Every day, millions of users sell and ship their wares using eBay. Our team supports this diverse community by building shipping products around the globe, helping individual sellers and small businesses to meet the growing expectations of online buyers. You will be part of a team responsible for building out the newest eBay experience -- live shopping platform: eBay Live. Live shopping naturally fits into the eBay ethos -- focused largely on unique items, collectibles and fashion, and enabling direct communication between buyers and sellers. This is a relatively new trend in the US and Europe, growing quickly, and is already broadly established in APAC.

We are looking to hire a passionate, collaborative and motivated Android Software Engineer, who will help us develop and evolve eBay Live to be a market leader in live shopping and become a key part of the global eBay platform.

What you'll do and learn:

  • Develop features that are modular and loosely coupled 

  • Able to translate product and design documents into clean, high-quality, crash-free, well-tested and maintainable production code autonomously 

  • Write unit tests and automation code for all shipped features

  • Conduct code review for immediate team

  • Develop and maintain user documentation to support software applications.

  • Propose and evaluate multiple design options, providing estimates for each.

  • Structure and complete tasks independently, meeting deadlines and milestones.

  • Efficiently communicate assumptions and seek clarification from team members, ensuring alignment and understanding across all domains.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in EE, CS or other related field.

  • 4+ years professional experience in native mobile development

  • Experience implementing modern platform design patterns

  • Understanding of testing android applications using platform tools

  • Experience with production monitoring

  • Basic proficiency with memory management

  • Understanding of advanced Kotlin language features, coroutines, lambdas, etc. 

  • Experience with dependency management tools in android, artifactory, Gradle

  • Basic understanding of system design for large scale consumer mobile applications

  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools
