Role Overview:
Enable hundreds of engineers to build, deploy, and operate services reliably across global Genesys Cloud regions by shaping the internal platform that powers them. This role directly improves developer velocity, platform resilience, and service health at scale, influencing how quickly and safely new capabilities reach customers. You will own critical platform tooling and services that reduce operational risk while increasing autonomy for engineering teams. At Genesys, we are transforming how organizations deliver customer experiences through empathy and AI driven innovation, and this role plays a key part in ensuring our cloud platform remains scalable, observable, and easy to operate. You will partner across teams to define platform standards, drive adoption of best practices, and expand the capabilities of a globally distributed system.
This position offers exposure to large scale distributed systems, high impact platform initiatives, and opportunities to influence engineering practices across the organization. You will contribute to foundational systems that shape how developers build and deliver software, while expanding your expertise in cloud architecture, reliability engineering, and platform design.
Key Responsibilities:
Own and evolve internal platform tooling that enables scalable, reliable service deployment across global cloud regions
Design and deliver backend services and APIs that empower self service capabilities and reduce developer friction
Drive improvements in system reliability, scalability, and performance through architectural enhancements and capacity planning
Enhance platform observability to reduce mean time to detect and recover, improving overall service health and stability
Build automated workflows that streamline operational processes and minimize manual intervention across environments
Influence platform standards and engineering best practices across teams to ensure consistency and quality at scale
Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders to align on platform strategy and deliver solutions that meet broad organizational needs
Contribute to production excellence by supporting incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications:
4+ years of professional software development experience after completing formal education
Authorization to work in Canada on a permanent basis without current or future employer sponsorship
Strong backend development experience with Python and production grade service design
Proven experience designing and building RESTful APIs in distributed environments
Solid understanding of scalability, availability, and fault tolerance in distributed systems
Hands on experience with AWS services such as DynamoDB, S3, SQS, SNS, and CloudFormation
Experience with backend frameworks such as Flask, Django, or equivalent
Strong experience with NoSQL data modeling for performance and operational efficiency
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across distributed teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience building or operating internal developer platforms or platform tooling systems
Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks or Node.js for developing supporting tooling or user interfaces
Exposure to additional cloud providers such as Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform
Experience supporting production systems, including incident response and operational excellence practices

This role has a market-competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation range listed below. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location. This role might also be eligible for a commission or performance-based bonus opportunities.
