About you

You are an experienced engineering manager with a strong technical foundation, ideally including hands-on experience with modern front-end architectures and consumer-facing products. You excel at helping teams move quickly without sacrificing quality, and you can create clarity in ambiguous environments. You’ve managed multiple teams, built high-performing engineering groups, and are comfortable partnering deeply with product and design.

You bring a systems mindset, strong execution instincts, and the ability to balance long-term technical health with day-to-day iteration speed. You communicate clearly, coach thoughtfully, and lead with empathy, accountability, and high standards.

What you'll do

• Lead and grow a consumer-focused full-stack team of ~12 engineers, ensuring high execution velocity, consistent delivery, and a strong team culture.
• Drive the development of mobile-first, consumer-facing web applications used by millions of shoppers.
• Work closely with product and design to shape requirements, challenge assumptions, and deliver polished user experiences.
• Manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, setting direction, prioritizing effectively, and maintaining alignment across teams.
• Establish and evolve engineering practices that support rapid iteration, scalability, reliability, and observability.
• Provide technical leadership: guide architectural decisions, review designs, and help your team level up in their craft.
• Develop engineers through mentorship, career planning, constructive feedback, and coaching at all levels.
• Partner with other engineering leaders to drive cross-team initiatives and improve our overall engineering operating model.
• Recruit top talent, help onboard new team members, and contribute to building a diverse, inclusive engineering organization.

Requirements

• 5+ years of engineering management experience, including managing multiple teams.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience in software development, ideally including modern JavaScript/TypeScript front-end frameworks and full-stack web applications
  
• Experience shipping consumer-facing products and working closely with product and design functions.
• Strong technical leadership: ability to dive into architecture, clarify tradeoffs, and guide teams through complex decisions
  
• Demonstrated success in building and scaling high-performing engineering teams
  
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Startup or fast-growth environment experience strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with our stack (React, Next.js, Django) is a plus, but similar experience is welcome.
