The Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Social Media Specialist to dedicatedly work on Kobo’s CEO thought leadership and Employer Branding programs. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Social Media, this role will be responsible for developing and executing social media strategies for the North American market. The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator, a creative storyteller, and a proactive community builder with a strong understanding of social media platforms and experience with thought leadership programs at large.

Key Responsibilities:

  • CEO Thought Leadership Program Execution: Develop and implement the CEO thought leadership social media strategy in the US and Canadian markets. This includes content creation, scheduling, community management, and performance monitoring to support CEO’s online presence and Kobo's overall brand.
  • Content Curation: Identify and curate relevant industry news, trends, and proactively map out ongoing conversations online to build out recommendations for the brand’s participation wherever relevant. 
  • Event Content Activation: Coordination for events sourced/confirmed by the PR team/CEO. Attend (when necessary) and capture & develop content for social media from the events. 
  • Employer Branding Initiatives: Partner with the Talent Acquisition Team to develop and execute social media campaigns that showcase Kobo's company culture, values, and employee benefits. Highlight employee stories, career opportunities, and company achievements to attract top talent.
  • Internal Stakeholder Collaboration: Serve as primary point of contact for Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), Employee Experience (EE), Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and Talent Acquisition teams. Develop and maintain a social media calendar to promote internal initiatives, company culture, and employer branding efforts.
  • Content Calendar Management: Maintain and update the social media
    content calendar, ensuring a consistent flow of engaging and relevant content
    across all assigned platforms.
  • Content Scheduling & Publishing: Schedule and publish social media content
    across various platforms using social media management tools.
  • Performance Tracking & Reporting: Track and analyze social media
    performance metrics, providing regular reports to the social media team on key
    performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Stay Up to Date on Industry Trends: Stay informed about the latest social
    media trends, best practices, and platform updates, particularly as they relate
    to LinkedIn and Threads, and CEO/Executive branding.
  • Agency Coordination & Communication: Serve as a key point of contact for
    external social media agencies as necessary, facilitating communication,
    providing feedback on creative assets, and ensuring timely delivery of projects.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in social media management, preferably with experience in executive branding or employer branding.
  • Proven experience in executing social media campaigns on platforms including but not limited to IG, FB, LI, TikTok, YouTube, Threads
  • Proven experience in agency coordination, admin processes, social media reporting and maintaining and executing social media content calendars
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, English, or a related field.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of social media analytics and reporting.
  • Experience working with C-level executives is a plus.
  • Preferred: Coursework or certifications in social media marketing or related fields.
  • Preferred: Strong interest in the bookish community and online reading trends.
  • Familiarity with social media management and analytics tools like Sprout
  • Social/Hootsuite.
  • Preferred: Located in the Toronto GTA area.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex
  • concepts in a clear and engaging way.
  • Confidence in public speaking and presenting to various audiences, including
  • internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent English skills (verbal and written)
