As a Senior UX/UI Designer, you will lead design projects, facilitate workshops, conduct research, and create user-centered designs. You'll collaborate with clients and teams to turn insights into actionable outcomes.
ImageX has an opportunity for a freelance Senior UX/UI Designer – an exceptional communicator and presenter with strong consulting instincts, attention to detail and a passion for high quality, user centred design. ImageX is a full-service web agency where innovation and learning are prized and everyone’s voice is heard. Your colleagues are passionate about creating digital experiences that people love and deliver results.
This is a remote contract position with variable hours during business hours based on project requirements, however there are plenty of opportunities to grow with an industry-leading web development agency that values work/life balance.
About You:
You are a Senior-level UX designer with solid UI craft. You command a room without steamrolling it - facilitating workshops, handling live Q&A, and holding boundaries with empathy to guide better outcomes. You think on your feet, collaborate like a boss, and love turning ambiguity into clear decisions.
About the Position:
Working alongside our talented team, you will lead and contribute to design outcomes across client engagements. This role is client-facing and consultative: you’ll frame problems, facilitate discovery and testing, present recommendations, and help unblock teams. You are always evolving, staying current on digital trends and apply responsible AI to improve delivery without compromising privacy or quality.
As a Senior UX/UI Designer you will:
- Lead client workshops (discovery, prioritization, user testing) and drive decisions with clear facilitation and synthesis.
- Present work persuasively to executives and cross-functional teams; explain the why behind design decisions and trade-offs.
- Plan and conduct research (interviews, usability tests, surveys, heuristic and IA evaluations); turn findings into actionable insights.
- Design IA (navigation, sitemaps, taxonomy/labeling) and validate via card/tree testing.
- Create flows, wireframes, and prototypes to explore interactions and de-risk scope.
- Define and extend design systems (components, tokens, guidelines) with accessibility (WCAG 2.2) in mind.
- Partner with Project Managers and Engineering to refine scope, handle constraints, and ship high-quality experiences.
- Apply AI tools responsibly to accelerate research synthesis, explore design variations, and analyze feedback—with privacy, consent, and anonymization best practices.
- Measure impact using agreed success criteria (e.g., task success, CSAT, conversion, support deflection).
You Need:
- Exceptional communication & presentation skills - translating complexity, handling live Q&A, and influencing decisions with high EQ.
- Consulting mindset: pushing back with empathy, reframing asks, removing impediments, and aligning stakeholders.
- Skilled facilitator of discovery sessions, user-testing workshops, and critiques with clear outcomes.
- Senior UX craft: end-to-end flows, wireframes, prototypes; strong visual/UI; accessibility and design systems.
- Information architecture depth: navigation, sitemaps, taxonomy; validates via card/tree testing.
- Research proficiency: plans and runs studies; turns findings into actionable recommendations.
- Tools: Figma, Adobe CC; comfortable with testing/IA platforms (e.g., Optimal Workshop).
- Applied AI: uses AI to speed research/design and analyze feedback, optimizing workflows and budgets—while following safe, ethical practices (privacy, consent, anonymization, human oversight).
Assets:
- Experience leading/mentoring more junior team members
How to Apply:
Please apply through our online application form with your cover letter and resume.
Please apply through our online application form and include 2–3 case studies showing the business/user problem, your role, key decisions, artifacts (flows, IA, prototypes), and measured outcomes.
