At Hive, we are dedicated to creating moments that matter by connecting event marketers to their biggest fans. We are looking to add a Senior Designer to work alongside our RND (Research & Development) teams to design usable and impactful solutions that strengthen the connection between artists, shows, and their fanbase. The Hive team plays a unique role of driving engagement and enhancing the overall experience for both marketers and fans.
What does being a Senior UX Designer at Hive look like?
Hive is an email & SMS marketing automation platform, empowering brands to personalize their marketing strategies. The Senior UX Designer role on our team plays a pivotal part in understanding our customers needs, participating in strategy building, and designing easy to use solutions to solve real problems for our users. Under the leadership of our VP, Product, you’ll be at the center of driving what we build and how our customers experience it.
What I get up to:
Be the customer advocate: spend time with our customers, learning how they work and think, so that you can advocate for them at the RND table. Where valuable, spearhead customer research and UX testing activities.
Design great products: Whether we’re iterating on existing features or building new ones, use your UX skillset to lead brainstorms, create wireframes, explore workflows, build prototypes, and craft mockups.
Work cross-functionally: Partner with product and engineering to co-lead the most impactful pod in our organization, the Product Pod. Work directly with Front End engineers to make sure we’re launching high quality products.
Own the design backlog and roadmap: As a successful but long running company, we have lots of UX debt and interesting challenges ahead of us. You’ll help us navigate tradeoffs and build concrete plans for where and how to invest in things like design systems and navigational changes.
Be part of a tightly knit, dynamic startup team! Our culture is the sum of all the folks on the team, and you’ll be a big part!
What I need to be successful
You likely have 5+ years as a UX designer on an agile-ish product development team, working from inception to launch on customer facing features.
Broad UX skillset: we are looking for a generalist who can get their hands dirty in many different parts of the design lifecycle, from research and idea validation, to concept development, to design and testing.
Portfolio of representative work that highlights your skills as a problem solver.
Ownership and growth mindset that helps you seek out new opportunities while knowing when to invest deeply and when to move fast.
Strong organization skills and ability to work effectively across standard tools: Figma, Linear, Github, Storybook, etc.
AI literacy: you know how to use and spend much of your time in products like Claude, Cursor, Loveable, and other systems. You have opinions on how AI can make your job faster and better.
We understand that we all bring different strengths to the table. If you meet some but not all of our requirements or think you bring something else unique to the table please don’t hesitate to apply. We’d love to hear from you even if you’re not an exact match to our list.
Nice to haves
A side skill-set in front end development, copy writing, or research would be an asset but is not required in this role. Experience in martech or event marketing technology would also be a bonus!
How I show up
You have a curious mind: Whether explicitly for a project or not, you’re not satisfied until you understand our product backwards and forwards.
You’re customer OBSESSED: You spend time with customers and show up as their advocate. You know their JTBD and what success looks like for them.
You own the experience roadmap: You know where we should be making our product better, and have strong opinions on how to get there. You advocate for the right times to be picking up UX debt and are pragmatic about when we do.
You are collaborative: You directly influence roadmap with your opinions about what customers need and how we are building, bringing your UX point of view.
You’re data driven: You know how to use data to make UX decisions and support them.
You excel at communicating complexity: You have excellent communication skills and can help stakeholders understand how users should interact with systems, building confidence in interaction paradigms.
You design great stuff: At the end of the day, you make sure that the way our customers experience our product is great. You take pride in what we deliver because you know why it will solve real problems in the right way!
Compensation & Benefits Package
Meaningful salary + equity: you’re rewarded based on impact
Work fully remotely in Canada where you are most productive whether that be from your house, or elsewhere. We just ask that you have the legal work authorization in the country that you reside and work within.
Flexible work hours: customize your schedule as long as it’s not disruptive to your role, team, and Hive
Health + Insurance: Comprehensive health and dental coverage with a generous parental leave top-up program
Unlimited vacation/PTO policy: so you can be happy and healthy!
