The Canada Senior Tax Manager will be responsible for driving the tax functional agenda to create synergies and efficiencies across Canada, while deploying and executing the tax strategy. The selected candidate will partner closely with senior finance leaders across the business to understand business plans and advise on the tax implications of changes in structure, locations, route to market, and other strategic initiatives.


This person will manage and coordinate the day-to-day tax activities for all business units across all segments in Canada, ensuring they meet their tax obligations and objectives (e.g., tax planning and research, tax compliance, and tax audit support). They will serve as the main point of contact for Business Units, Corporate Tax, and Treasury teams, providing tax expertise and helping implement appropriate tax policies and procedures to ensure strong governance and controls.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure the preparation and remittance of accurate tax computations in a timely manner to comply with statutory reporting (including corporate income tax, GST, etc.).
  • Ensure proper maintenance of all required documentation in support of tax computations and submissions related to tax and transfer pricing matters.
  • Lead and manage responses to queries from local tax authorities in relation to tax audits or assessments and coordinate the review and submission of supporting documents and responses in line with the tax defense strategy.
  • Monitor legislation and incentives related to tax, and both explore and identify new local tax planning opportunities and strategies.
  • Advise on impact to business on introduction of new taxes like VAT or other taxes.
Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • University Degree (preferably Business and/or Accounting).
  • Minimum of 6 years' experience in Canadian Tax in a multinational environment. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills.

WE VALUE:

  • Master’s degree with an emphasis in taxation or CPA or JD with public accounting experience preferred.
  • Prior experience with a Big 4 in tax is a definite plus.
  • Excellent business sense with a proven understanding of the tax implications of a multi-national manufacturing or technology company.
  • ERP experience a plus (SAP, MS Dynamics, Oracle).
  • Broad technical knowledge of US Federal and State tax laws & regulations, including US international provisions like Subpart F, GILTI, FDII, FTC and BEAT.
  • Solid GAAP Financial Accounting and ASC740 expertise.
  • Experience in Corptax, Alteryx, and advanced excel capabilities.
  • Financial accounting skills with a good working knowledge of accounting for income taxes.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative solutions to complex issues.

The annual base salary range for this position is $200k to $220k in Ontario. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.
