Job Description:

18-month contract

The Senior Specialist, Communications and Outreach, reports to the Director, Outreach and Communications, Office of the President, Sun Life Quebec. They support the planning and performance of public relations activities, executive outreach within the Quebec market, internal communications, sponsorships, philanthropy and francization for the Office of the President, Sun Life Quebec. You will play a key role in writing engaging communications for internal and external audiences, managing event planning and logistics, conducting analyzes, monitoring performance indicators and working on other strategic projects.

What will you do:

  • Work with the team to develop and implement public relations, executive outreach within the Quebec market, internal communications for Sun Life Quebec Employees, sponsorships, philanthropy and francization strategies.

  • Advise and support the team with expertise in project management and event logistics. Ensure appropriate follow-up with internal and external stakeholders, including the deployment of corporate visibility and the distribution of tickets to events. Coordinate internal processes to complete projects.

  • Create and implement integrated communication plans and relevant deployment plans to support the company’s internal and external initiatives in Quebec.

  • Write clear and engaging content and ensure that it is tailored to target audiences and preferred channels, such as internal and external social media posts, media approaches, speeches, PowerPoint presentations, advertising and briefing materials, quarterly and annual updates.

  • Identify media opportunities and suggest approaches ideas in a proactive and timely manner.

  • Manage the editorial calendar and develop social media tactics to showcase our initiatives.

  • Ensure that indicators are in place to track the effectiveness and results of the team’s projects.

What do you need to succeed:

  • Post-secondary education in communications, public relations, marketing or a related field.

  • Five years in a communications, marketing or media relations role. Experience in financial services is a plus.

  • Demonstrated communications or marketing skills with an understanding of internal and external audiences as well as media (print materials, speciality, social, audiovisual) and social media needs.

  • Exceptional written communication skills, including editing, proofreading and attention to detail. Ability to persuade media contacts and write for external audiences.

  • Willingness to test new visual and creative strategies to engage target audiences. Visual design skills, including PowerPoint.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to network and develop a network of internal allies.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently, use discretion, multi-task, and deliver measurable results on time.

  • Bilingual (French and English).

The successful candidate must be able to work in Sun Life’s Montreal office as required.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
