Role & Responsibilities

The Senior Solutions Architect is a strategic technical leader responsible for designing scalable, high-performance eCommerce solutions that align with Avex’s business goals and deliver exceptional customer experiences.
They ensure all technical architectures are modern, future-proof, and uphold Avex’s reputation as a premier provider of Shopify-based eCommerce services.

This role spans both pre-sales and post-sales phases, partnering closely with internal teams, prospects, and clients. In the pre-sales stage, they provide technical expertise, assess feasibility, and craft demos and proposals to support deal closure. Once projects are underway, they transition into a technical leadership role during execution, guiding architecture decisions, collaborating with development teams, and ensuring solutions are implemented to spec.

Beyond individual projects, the Senior Solutions Architect champions innovation, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration. They serve as the critical link between business objectives and technical delivery ensuring every solution is not only technically sound but also built for long-term client success and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Engagement & Cross-functional Collaboration: They will act as the primary technical liaison to ensure clear communication and alignment on project goals and technical solutions.
    • Engage with prospects and clients pre-sales and post-onboarding, addressing technical inquiries and recommending improvements to architecture and integrations.
    • Work closely with project managers and client services to ensure client satisfaction, technical feasibility, and timely delivery.
  • Site Architecture & 3rd Party Integration Planning: They lead the evaluation and selection of technology stacks, frameworks, and tools to support eCommerce initiatives, considering factors such as scalability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
    • They conduct thorough research to identify third-party solutions and technologies that align with project requirements and client objectives.
    • They develop technical specifications, architecture diagrams, and documentation to communicate design decisions and guide implementation efforts.
  • Platform Migration Planning & Management: They develop comprehensive plans for migrating e-commerce platforms, ensuring seamless transition and minimal disruption to operations.
    • Product Data Migration: Strategize and execute the transfer of product, customer, order, giftcard, discount and content data, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Development Liaison: They serve as the primary point of contact between the project team and the development team during the implementation phase. 
    • They draft formal Handoff documentation outlining the technical solutions, specifications, and requirements for the development team.
    • They collaborate with developers to ensure a clear understanding of project objectives, scope, and deliverables.
  • Deep Shopify Platform Knowledge: They will understand Shopify best practices & stay up to date with Shopify new releases, related trends/tactics.
Requirements

  • Proven expertise in e-commerce platforms, with a minimum 3 years experience working on Shopify, including understanding Liquid templating, customizations, and API integrations.
  • Understanding of frontend and backend technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading large-scale replatforming initiatives, particularly from enterprise platforms like Magento and Salesforce to Shopify.
  • Strong understanding of data structure, mapping, and API integration challenges during platform migrations, with a focus on minimizing data loss and maintaining workflow integrity.
  • Familiarity with project management principles and Agile methodologies, with experience in resource allocation, budgeting, and timeline management.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to think strategically, aligning technical goals with business objectives and growth opportunities.
