Our Database Experience (DBX) TeamThe Database Experience team builds the libraries and tools that developers use day-to-day working with MongoDB. Our mission is to increase developer adoption, satisfaction and retention by providing a reliable, enjoyable interface for developers and other end-users.
Our senior engineers are typically specialists in a particular programming language, but are capable of contributing to projects in other languages as well.
For this role, we're looking for someone who enjoys designing, writing, and supporting open source libraries for developers and administrators using MongoDB. You will have the opportunity to be surrounded by veteran C/C++ programmers, as you deepen your knowledge of the C/C++ ecosystem, or advance your career as a writer and speaker.
This role will be based remotely in Canada.
In This Role You WillDevelop and maintain these repositories:
- MongoDB C driver: https://github.com/mongodb/mongo-c-driver
- MongoDB C++ driver: https://github.com/mongodb/mongo-cxx-driver
- libmongocrypt: https://github.com/mongodb/libmongocrypt
- Contribute to an upcoming async C/C++ driver library
- Contribute to the MongoDB driver specifications: https://github.com/mongodb/specifications
- Have 5+ years of experience in relevant roles
- Have experience implementing libraries in C and/or C++
- Have expertise in a relevant area (C++ language, network programming, async programming)
- Have made contributions to open source software
- Communicate well with coworkers and external users
- Practice test-driven development
- Within three months, you will contribute code to most of the team projects. You will be able to fix bugs and implement already-planned features
- Within six months, you will contribute to the roadmap for our products and lead the design and specification of new features. You will have the trust of the team and our internal customers. You will have responded to an externally reported request
- Within a year, you will have made a significant improvement to a codebase our team owns, and will be taking the lead in designing new features to solve novel customer challenges

Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package.
