Senior Software Developer (Full Stack)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Software Developer (Full Stack) with strong MERN (MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js) expertise to support ongoing enhancements to a modern enterprise application focused on the collection, management, and accessibility of critical business data.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing enhancements, bug fixes, technical improvements, and platform upgrades based on evolving business requirements. This role also includes maintaining project documentation, supporting governance reviews, ensuring solution alignment with organizational standards, and facilitating knowledge transfer activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and implement application enhancements and technical improvements.
  
• Develop and maintain solutions using the MERN technology stack (MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js).
  
• Support platform upgrades and bug fixes based on evolving business needs.
  
• Update and maintain solution architecture documents, technical artifacts, models, diagrams, and supporting documentation.
  
• Create and maintain build books, deployment procedures, release management documentation, and operational/support documentation.
  
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to ensure alignment with functional, technical, security, privacy, integration, and cloud requirements.
  
• Support architecture, security, privacy, and governance review processes through documentation and technical expertise.
  
• Ensure solutions comply with accessibility requirements, including AODA standards.
  
• Participate in Agile software delivery practices and ceremonies.
  
• Provide knowledge transfer and documentation to support operational continuity and future support activities.
  

Required Qualifications

Mandatory Skills & Experience

• 7+ years of full-stack development experience using the MERN (MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js) technology stack.
  
• 4+ years of experience developing, maintaining, and updating technical documentation including:
  
• Build books
  
• Deployment procedures
  
• Release management documentation
  
• Operational and support documentation
  
• Experience designing, developing, testing, and implementing application enhancements and technical improvements.
  
• Experience developing solutions compliant with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) requirements.
  
• Experience working in Agile software delivery environments.
  
• Knowledge of IT security best practices and authentication protocols, including:
  
• OAuth 2.0
  
• SAML
  
• Experience updating and maintaining solution design artifacts, models, diagrams, and supporting documentation.
  
• Experience collaborating with business and technical stakeholders.
  
• Experience supporting governance, architecture, security, and privacy review activities.
  
• Experience providing knowledge transfer and transition documentation.
  

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience building and deploying cloud-native applications in Microsoft Azure.
  
• Experience working with data collection and analytics applications.
  
• Familiarity with Government of Ontario Information and Technology Standards (GO-ITS).
  
• Experience with source control, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps, and Git.
