Marsh Canada is hiring for a Senior Proposal Specialist.
This position is based out of our Toronto or Montreal office and offers a flexible working environment with an expectation to attend the office once or twice a month.
The Senior Proposal Specialist develops persuasive, client-focused proposals and presentation content and leads the end-to-end proposal development process. This role entails reviewing and adhering to RFP requirements, identifying strategic opportunities on ways to connect with potential clients and articulate those connections throughout the RFP response, shape communication and visual approaches with design elements in both Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, manage research and content creation, and coordinate cross-functional contributors to deliver high-quality, on-time submissions. In addition, oral preparation experience is an asset.
The applicable base salary range for this role is $70,000 to $120,000.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.

Key responsibilities
- Write persuasive proposal and presentation content, including executive summaries, tailored to audience needs and aligned with company standards.
- Review Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to confirm submission requirements, evaluation criteria, formats, and deadlines.
- Identify strategic opportunities and value propositions within opportunities to enhance client value and win themes.
- Facilitate opportunity strategy formulation with Client Managers and consulting teams to surface client business drivers and define the communication and graphic approach.
- Determine research needs and perform or delegate research; synthesize findings into compelling content.
- Locate and engage internal subject-matter experts and knowledge-management resources when required.
- Manage the proposal development process, including timelines, version control, approvals, and final submission logistics for both small and complex bids.
- Coordinate multiple concurrent opportunities, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with submission requirements.
What you need to have
- Fluent spoken French and excellent English communication skills (written and oral) required.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); strong PowerPoint storyboarding and presentation-building skills.
- Proven experience in proposal or business development writing for client-facing bids.
- Strong project and time-management skills with demonstrated ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent written editing and proofreading skills; attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Analytical ability to interpret RFPs, extract strategy, and align messaging to client needs.
- Experience working cross-functionally with designers and subject-matter experts.
What makes you stand out:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Business, English, French literature , Translation or related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in proposal development, capture, or related communications roles.
- Experience providing oral coaching and presentation rehearsal support to senior presenters, including feedback on delivery, Q&A preparation, and confidence-building techniques.
