You will own and drive the product strategy and roadmap for the core components of our data infrastructure, including Map Services, Orchestration Platform, Geotab Query Engine, Platform Infrastructure, and Superset. What you'll do:The Senior Product Manager, Data Platform is a highly visible, strategic role which requires a strong technical and analytical mindset to build foundational data products that power Geotab's data-driven initiatives and deliver value to our customers. You will work cross-functionally with development, data science, and business stakeholders to create scalable, reliable, and performant data solutions within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
How you'll make an impact:Define and execute the product vision and roadmap.
Oversee the development and maintenance of web APIs for map-related requests, including location tracking, route planning, and map display.
Enable developers and data scientists to programmatically author, schedule, and monitor data workflows.
Provide a backup solution for BigQuery and enable SQL queries across multiple data sources to enhance data analysis flexibility.
Provide standardized infrastructure, centralized operations, and core tooling for the data platform.
Enable Geotab's internal business analytics and data exploration.
Conduct market research and competitive analysis to ensure the data platform strategy aligns with industry trends and business needs.
Perform discovery interviews with prospective & existing partners and customers to identify product gaps and generate new ideas that add continuous value.
Leverage research methodologies to identify common patterns and pain points to define relevant solution opportunities.
Collaborate with development, data science, and business stakeholders to identify needs and opportunities within our data infrastructure.
Work closely with the infrastructure team to ensure the platform can handle Geotab's growing data volume and user base. This involves defining requirements for scalability, reliability, and performance.
Partner with API teams to ensure platform APIs are robust, well-documented, and easy to use.
Translate business requirements into detailed user stories and acceptance criteria.
Prioritize and manage the product backlog, ensuring alignment with Geotab's overall data strategy.
Define and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and product metrics that inform the success of products, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
Work closely with solutions delivery managers toward execution.
Collect and analyze feedback from customers, stakeholders, and internal teams to continuously make improvements to products.
5-8 years of experience in product management, preferably in a technical or platform-focused role.
Post-secondary Diploma/Degree or equivalent work experience.
Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree specialization in Engineering, Business, Computer Science, or a related field is highly valued.
Strong technical background with experience in big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Beam), workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow), cloud computing (GCP is an asset), and data warehousing.
Solid technical understanding of platform architecture, API design, and software development best practices.
Experience in defining and driving a product vision and strategy that connects technical capabilities to business outcomes.
Experience in a SaaS environment and with Agile methodologies is highly valued.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong presentation skills.
Self-starter, resourceful with strong analytical skills, and the ability to problem-solve.
Strategic mindset, with a keen sense of priorities.
Strong team player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
Well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship management skills.
Technical competence with software programs, including Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
