Wealthsimple is on a mission to help everyone achieve financial freedom by reimagining what it means to manage your money. Using smart technology, we take financial services that are often confusing, opaque and expensive and make them transparent and low-cost for everyone. We’re the largest fintech company in Canada, with over 4 million users who trust us with more than $50 billion in assets.

Our teams ship often and make an impact with groundbreaking ideas. We're looking for talented people who keep it simple and value collaboration and humility as we continue to create inclusive and high-performing teams where people can be inspired to do their best work.

About the team:

At Wealthsimple, design is a competitive advantage and essential to achieving our mission of helping Canadians reach financial freedom. We are also client-obsessed - our empathy for our clients sets the bar really high for the products and experiences we create.

We’re looking for a Director of Product Design to head up a team of product and content designers working across our marketing website and product. You’ll play a key role in shaping the end-to-end experience—helping people discover, sign up, and get started with our platform. This is a high-impact role where you’ll drive strategy, execution, and experimentation to fuel our growth.

In this role you will:

  • Lead and grow a team of designers, ensuring high-quality execution and impact at speed.
  • Define and drive design strategy in partnership with Product, Engineering, and Marketing, keeping teams aligned on shared goals.
  • Foster a culture of craft and storytelling, setting a high bar for UX, visual design, and user advocacy.
  • Bring clarity to ambiguity, especially in projects that require cross-functional collaboration or organizational change.
  • Coach and mentor designers, helping them grow their skills and impact.
  • Experiment and innovate, using research, data, and direct client insights to improve features and drive growth.
  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and marketing to create seamless, compelling experiences.
  • Scale and resource your team effectively, making sure they have what they need to succeed.

Skills we’re looking for:

  • Experience managing and growing product designers at all levels.
  • A strong track record designing and building high-growth consumer-facing products.
  • Experience in fast-moving, high-growth environments (bonus points for consumer fintech!).
  • Strong UX, visual design, and communication skills—you know how to craft a great experience and tell the story behind it.
  • Experience working closely with product and engineering in a collaborative environment.

Why join us?

  • High-impact role where you’ll shape a critical part of the business and help define how we grow
  • Collaborative, cross-functional environment where design is valued as a key driver of success
  • Opportunities for career growth in a rapidly evolving company
  • A culture that values craft, innovation, and execution
