Senior Platform Engineer (DevOps)
The Role:
As our Senior Platform Engineer, you will join a team who strive to push cloud services to the maximum limit every day using cutting-edge technologies. The main responsibilities of the position include:
- Initiate and actively drive the adoption of good patterns, structures and use of technologies for development and operations
- Investigate and identify practices and work that can benefit from automation
- Monitor and suggest improvements to the existing CI/CD process to increase speed, safety and reliability
- Implement and coordinate implementation with the parties involved
- Develop and maintain existing /GitLab CI pipeline libraries
- Assist developers with setting up CI/CD for their projects and provide support for any issues that may arise
- Stay up to date with the latest tools and trends in the industry
- Provide senior-level, best practice recommendations and implementations to our Windows, Linux and Kubernetes hosting environments
- Function as a mentor to junior team members, providing technical guidance and recommending continued learning opportunities to help them develop
- Educate fellow team members as well as Application Development Teams about the platforms used-for and hosted-by our team. Key tools and concepts in this space are: Gitlab, Docker, AWS, Terraform, Istio Service Mesh, Kubernetes , Kafka, ELK
- Work with our Security team to remediate high-risk vulnerabilities and ensure the security of our environments are being scrutinised as appropriate for their use case
- Offer services related to the above tasks and projects to any of the Companies of the Group as instructed by the Line Manager
Main requirements:
- University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar discipline
- 7+ years’ experience within the following areas: Cloud ( AWS), Release Pipeline Management, Windows Server Administration, Linux Administration, Certificate Management, PowerShell scripting, Bash/python scripting, Configuration Management and IAC (Ansible/Terraform), DNS, Networking
- Enterprise-level Kubernetes experience
- Solid Linux administration skills
- Commitment to continuous improvement, with a focus on observability, modern application architecture styles, blue-green / canary deployments, CI/CD pipeline management
- Ability to self-motivate, study, and stay on-top of emerging technologies and trends, while meeting business deadlines
- Experience with tools including: Istio, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, MSK, New Relic
The following will be considered an advantage:
- Familiarity with database concepts
- Working experience with at least one cloud provider (preferably AWS)
- Experience with Apache Kafka configuration and troubleshooting
- Experience with ELK configuration and troubleshooting
- Scripting skills (Bash, PowerShell, Python, Go, etc.)
