Are you curious, client-focused, and motivated by complex security challenges? Join our dynamic team in Ottawa, Toronto, or remotely as a Senior Physical Security Consultant.

In this role, you will help clients protect people, assets, operations, and communities across the defense, justice, government, industrial, critical infrastructure, transportation, health care, commercial, and institutional sectors. You will lead client engagements, provide strategic guidance, conduct threat and risk assessments, develop security strategies and requirements, support project delivery, mentor team members, and contribute to business development initiatives.

You’ll do this as part of Stantec, a global firm of 34,000 employees working in more than 450 offices across six continents.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead security design briefs, threat and risk assessments (TRA/HTRA), security master plans, CPTED studies, facility security assessments, and security gap analyses.
  • Knowledge of designing vehicle ramming mitigation measures. 
  • Develop physical security strategies, security zoning concepts, operational requirements, performance criteria, and implementation roadmaps for complex facilities and campuses.
  • Lead multidisciplinary security consulting assignments from planning through implementation support, coordinating with architectural, engineering, ICT, operations, and client stakeholder teams.
  • Prepare and review security reports, basis-of-design narratives, functional requirements, security standards, policy inputs, implementation plans, and advisory documentation.
  • Translate client risk, operational, and business requirements into clear physical security requirements for executives, project teams, and technical disciplines.
  • Lead client workshops, stakeholder interviews, site reviews, and executive briefings, and present practical recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Support project delivery through advisory review of security-related RFIs, shop drawings, change orders, commissioning documentation, and implementation issues, coordinating with licensed engineers where engineering content, code compliance, system interfaces, or construction conformance are involved.
  • Ensure that physical security deliverables requiring professional engineering responsibility are prepared by, or under the supervision of, an appropriately licensed engineer, in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements..
  • Mentor junior consultants, support quality reviews, and provide technical oversight within the candidate’s area of physical security consulting competence.
  • Support proposals, fee estimates, client development, thought leadership, and strategic growth initiatives for the Physical Security Practice.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in physical security consulting, security planning, threat and risk assessment, security operations, or security program advisory.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex consulting assignments, facilitating stakeholder workshops, and advising multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong knowledge of physical security principles, including access control strategy, video surveillance intent, intrusion detection concepts, perimeter protection, hostile vehicle mitigation planning, protective design coordination, and security operations.
  • Knowledge of ASIS, ULC, CSA, ASTM, Government of Canada security guidance, and other applicable physical security standards, guidelines, and established principles.
  • Excellent report-writing, facilitation, presentation, executive communication, and client relationship skills.
  • Ethics, honesty, diligence, professionalism, and discretion.
  • Be eligible to obtain a federal government security clearance (required).

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASIS PSP, CPP, CPTED, P.Eng. or equivalent professional designation is preferred.
  • Experience with Government of Canada, DND, PSPC, RCMP, justice, transportation, critical infrastructure, or other high-security clients.
  • Knowledge of HTRA, NDSOD, federal security requirements, security planning frameworks, and security governance documentation.
  • Bilingualism in English and French is an asset.
