Position Overview

As a Senior Mobile Developer, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our mobile applications and frameworks. Your work will power mobile commerce experiences for millions of Shopify shoppers, helping merchants reach customers faster and more beautifully than ever. This role requires a blend of creativity and technical expertise, as you will be tasked with solving complex problems and delivering high-quality, scalable, and robust solutions. You should also be comfortable leveraging modern AI coding tools to accelerate development, improve code quality, and deliver robust solutions efficiently, while continuously finding new ways to integrate AI into your daily workflow to enhance productivity, creativity, and innovation across our engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain advanced applications for the iOS and Android platforms using React Native.
• Collaborate closely with design, backend, and AI/ML teams to deliver intelligent, adaptive user experiences.
• Own key app performance metrics (startup time, interaction latency, app size) and drive measurable improvements across releases.
• Champion mobile security, accessibility, and automated testing to ensure Reactiv apps meet enterprise-grade reliability.
• Lead the integration of third-party APIs, with a specific focus on the Shopify ecosystem.
• Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and ensure best practices in software development.
• Leverage AI development tools to accelerate development, improve code quality, and explore innovative ways to integrate AI into everyday workflows for greater efficiency and creativity.
• Stay informed on the latest industry trends in mobile technologies and test the applications on devices to ensure our products always utilize the best possible techniques and tools.

Required Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Proficient in React Native, with a deep understanding of its core principles and architecture.
• Proficiency in using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and others to enhance coding efficiency.
• Strong experience in Node.js and TypeScript.
• Familiarity with the Shopify ecosystem and experience building apps using Shopify APIs.
• Demonstrated experience in implementing and maintaining mobile apps with a focus on performance optimization, accessibility, scalability, and quality, delivering exceptional user experiences to a vast user base
• Solid understanding of the full mobile development life cycle.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a dynamic and agile environment.

Desirable Skills

• Expertise in developing native Android applications utilizing Android SDKs, with a focus on creating robust, user-friendly experiences.
• Experience with cloud message APIs and usage of push notifications.
• Proficient in utilizing Reanimated to enhance app interactivity and animation performance.
• Proven expertise in deploying and managing applications, along with extensive interaction with the App Store and Google Play platforms.
• Understanding of continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
• Experience with automated testing platforms and unit tests.
• Knowledge of UI/UX design principles and application interface guidelines.

Education & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in mobile app development, with a strong portfolio of projects in iOS and Android.
