  • Working with key stakeholders to optimize designs for performance, manufacturability, and ease of deployment

Design and Thermodynamic Analysis for Cold Plate Cooling Systems

  • Assist in setup, running and analysis of results for CFD

  • Assist in setup, running and analysis of results for FEA

Design, Selection and Analysis of Refrigeration Systems

  • Compare the impact on overall efficiency of the data center of different refrigerants for the ambient design condition

  • Select compressors, expansion valves, and other supporting systems

Coordination, Review and Approval of Technical Reports and Documentation

  • Review internal engineering work as well as external contractors such as CFD and FEA analysis

What We’re Looking For
  • Professional engineering designation in Alberta, Canada or local regulatory body

  • Experience in the design and equipment selection of mechanical systems used for data center cooling and/or HVAC systems

  • Familiarity with various data center tiers and best practices for efficiency and reliability

  • Continuous improvement mindset

  • Experience in the design, selection, and optimization of chiller systems for large-scale cooling applications

  • Proficiency in conducting thermodynamic analysis to optimize cooling system performance, energy efficiency, and heat transfer.

  • Experience with relevant simulation software (e.g., CFD, FEA) for thermal and fluid dynamics an asset

  • Practical experience in designing and executing lab experiments to validate the performance of mechanical systems, cooling solutions, and integrated systems.

  • Ability to interpret experimental data and translate findings into design improvements.

  • Experience in the selection and design of refrigeration systems and components

Why Join Orbital?
  • Competitive salary commensurate with AI sector

  • Flexible and generous paid time off
