Who We Are

SWTCH is pioneering EV charging solutions for multifamily and commercial properties across North America.

Founded in 2016 by entrepreneurs, investors, and energy professionals, SWTCH had a vision of enabling communities to realize the social, economic, and environmental benefits of widespread EV adoption. Since then, its EV charging and energy management solutions have been installed in hundreds of multifamily buildings, 50 percent of which are classified as low-to-moderate income. By leveraging the latest technology available, SWTCH is making EV charging possible for all buildings.

This role is ideal for an experienced HR professional who thrives on building systems, optimizing processes, and fostering an engaged, high-performing, and inclusive workforce across both Canada and the United States. You bring deep HR expertise, including compliance knowledge in both regions, and are equally comfortable operating at the strategic level and rolling up your sleeves to get things done.

    • Proactively address and resolve employee concerns and grievances in a fair and timely manner, conducting thorough investigations and recommending appropriate resolutions in accordance with local labor laws.
    • Foster effective communication channels between employees and management to promote transparency and build trust.
    • Enjoy working in a hybrid setting and building IRL relationships with team members.
    • Develop and execute data-driven employee engagement strategies and initiatives (e.g., surveys, feedback sessions, recognition programs) to foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performance culture across all locations.
  • Performance Management & Development:
    • Design, implement, and manage a robust performance management framework, including clear goal-setting processes, regular feedback mechanisms, and formal performance reviews that align with company objectives.
    • Identify organizational and individual training and development needs, sourcing or developing relevant learning and development programs to enhance employee skills, knowledge, and performance.
    • Support the development and implementation of career development plans and internal mobility strategies to foster employee growth and retention.
  • Compensation & Benefits (North America):
    • Collaborate with finance and senior leadership to develop and administer competitive and equitable compensation and benefits packages that align with market standards in both Canada and the United States.
    • Conduct regular benchmarking analysis of compensation and benefits to ensure market competitiveness and compliance with local regulations.
    • Manage employee benefits programs, including enrollment, communication, and vendor relationships, ensuring compliance and cost-effectiveness in both countries.
  • HR Policy & Compliance (Canada & USA):
    • Maintain a deep and current understanding of all applicable labor laws and regulations in both Canada and the United States (federal, provincial/state, and local).
    • Develop, implement, and maintain clear and legally compliant HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks tailored to each country's specific requirements.
    • Ensure consistent application of HR policies and procedures across the organization.
    • Oversee HR-related compliance reporting and audits for both Canadian and US operations.
  • Strategic Talent Acquisition & Onboarding (North America):
    • Partner closely with hiring managers to define specific talent needs, craft compelling and accurate job descriptions tailored to each market, and establish clear hiring timelines and processes.
    • Oversee the full lifecycle recruitment process, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, candidate assessment, background checks, and offer negotiation, ensuring a positive candidate experience.
    • Track and analyze key recruitment metrics (e.g., time-to-hire, cost-per-hire, source of hire) to optimize recruitment effectiveness.
  • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) (North America):
    • Develop and drive comprehensive DEIB strategies and initiatives that foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace where all employees feel a sense of belonging and are empowered to contribute their best.
    • Establish measurable DEIB goals and track progress against key metrics, regularly reporting on diversity data and identifying areas for improvement.
    • Partner with leadership and employee resource groups (if applicable) to champion DEIB initiatives and promote a culture of inclusivity.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree in HR or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing a broad range of HR functions.
  • Demonstrated experience and in-depth knowledge of Canadian and US labor laws and HR best practices is essential.
  • Proven success in developing and implementing effective talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, and DEIB strategies in a multi-site or international environment.
  • Exceptional communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strategic and analytical mindset with the ability to translate business goals into actionable HR strategies and initiatives.
  • Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and ethical conduct in handling sensitive employee information.
