About the team

The Financial Partnerships team at Airwallex is dedicated to building and managing strategic relationships with key financial institutions and partners worldwide. We work to expand Airwallex’s network, enhance our product offerings, and drive mutual growth. By fostering strong collaborations, we ensure our customers have access to the best financial solutions and services. Our team is committed to delivering value through innovative and seamless partnerships.

What you’ll do

As a Senior Manager, Financial Partnerships in the Americas, you will be responsible for building, evaluating and managing Airwallex’s key financial partnerships with the goal to deepen Airwallex’s product capabilities, as well as enable Airwallex to launch in new markets. You will be a key driver of the Financial Partnerships team in scoping, establishing, negotiating, implementing, and operationalizing complex partnership engagements. This role will be the bridge between financial partners and internal stakeholders to drive strategic initiatives and outcomes for the company.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA or New York, NY.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead, develop, and implement a banking partnerships strategy for the Americas (i.e., the US, Canada and LatAm) that supports our vision for Airwallex’s payments network

  • Plan and drive complex negotiations with incumbent and prospective external partners to reinforce the strength of Airwallex’s financial partnership network in close collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders/leaders across the Product, Commercial, Finance, Legal, Risk, Compliance and Operations teams

  • Coordinate due diligence processes with prospective partners and project manage onboarding with new partners

  • Manage some of our most strategic partnership opportunities, both existing and new, and act as the main point of contact between Airwallex and our partners

  • Conduct market research to understand the competitive landscape to ensure that Airwallex maintains its position as a payment leader

  • Develop yourself as an industry thought leader

Who you are

We're looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.

Minimum qualifications:
  • At least 10 years of experience in partnerships/business development roles at a fintech, payments company, bank, and/or major card scheme

  • A proven track record of having successfully worked with cross-functional stakeholders – such as Product, Commercial, Finance, Legal, Risk, Compliance and Operations teams – in defining, negotiating and implementing partnerships with external companies

  • A solid understanding of compliance and onboarding with global and regional banks

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience working in both big organizations as well as fast-growing startups

Compensation Range: $140K - $215K
