Global Accounting Shared Services Shared Services is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain deep insights into Manulife’s business and expense model across all segments and functions. The successful candidate will play a critical role in examining and enhancing expense management practices. This position requires a strong interest in process improvement, building robust controls, and coordinating with various teams to optimize accounting operations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Expense Management and Control: Accurately record expenses in the ledger with supporting documents for audits and regulatory requirements. Develop controls to mitigate risks and ensure correct expense booking.

  • Process Improvement and Recommendations: Implement processes, controls, and tools for efficient mandate delivery and recommend changes to improve accounting procedures, ensuring corrective actions are fully implemented.

  • Accounting Support and Subject Matter Expertise: Provide reliable accounting support to the Client Advisory team and serve as the SME for general expenses legal entity reporting.

  • Collaboration and Coordination: Work with the offshore accounting team for accurate financial close processes and coordinate with the Client Advisory team for timely completion of entries.

  • Ownership and Compliance: Take ownership of select balance sheet accounts to ensure compliance with internal controls, including SOX, and perform validation and reconciliation.

  • Continuous Assessment and Documentation: Conduct ongoing assessments for simplification and standardization of accounting processes, and maintain thorough documentation for clarity and consistency.

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting/ Finance

  • Independence: Self-starter with the ability to work independently, using sound judgment, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

  • Customer Focus: Demonstrates excellent customer focus and a commitment to quality.

  • Results Orientation: Ability to manage expectations, work under tight deadlines, and handle competing priorities.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Proven ability to build relationships, engage and influence others, and work with a diverse customer base.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: CPA/CA/CMA/CGA or an MBA specialized in Accounting/Finance is preferred.

  • Technical Skills: Power BI and Alteryx

  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset. If the successful candidate is in Québec, proficiency in both languages will be required to support clients from various provinces outside of Quebec.

  • Stakeholder Influence: Ability to influence and solicit support and compliance from multiple stakeholders with sometimes conflicting needs and priorities while meeting tight deadlines.

  • System Integration: Addressing the lack of integrated systems/processes and data format to improve the efficiency of reporting and analysis processes.

Salary range is expected to be between

$71,925.00 CAD - $119,875.00 CAD
