About the role .
The Senior Director, Enterprise Architect will be at the helm of our architectural strategy, overseeing the design and implementation of state-of-the-art solutions. Your expertise will guide the development of scalable, robust, and efficient systems that align with our business goals and technological vision. This role involves leading a team of architects, ensuring that IT projects align with the company's strategic goals, and promoting innovation across all levels of the IT infrastructure, Data products, Applications, Cloud, Integration, Security and SAP Platforms. The Sr. Director Enterprise Architect will also act as a key advisor on technology trends, architectural best practices, and technical risk management to the Senior Leadership Team.
This is the highest level of, architecture role, will work closely with our technology leadership and existing experts on SAP, Cloud Technology, Data Analytics, AI and DevOps, bringing vision and direction to solutions architecture. In a highly structured manner, you will drive modernization for competitive advantage connecting architecture to business outcomes and approaching modernization as an evolutionary journey.
In addition to ensuring we make great architecture and engineering choices; you will approach Enterprise Architecture in the broadest terms by integrating business, process, technology and data architecture on business agility and flexibility, TCO, availability and resiliency. Your leadership will be crucial to evolving our ways of working across the enterprise on technology landscape, procurement, platform and technology choices.

What you'll be doing.
- Develop and maintain the overall architectural vision, ensuring that IT strategies and projects align with business objectives.
- Lead the design and integration of complex systems, including cloud-based, on-premises, and hybrid solutions.
- Define and enforce architectural standards and guidelines, ensuring consistency and quality across all projects.
- Incorporate SAP S/4 Hana, integration, Cloud, Data and digital engineering maturity into architectural practices and solutions.
- You will define and maintain architectural frameworks, Patterns and blueprints for technology solutions across Digital Agriculture, Manufacturing, Data and SAP Platforms, which includes 200+ Applications, reducing complexity across the portfolio
- Through running a structured program, collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure architectural coherence and integrity across all platforms and products
- Leverage cloud platforms for scalability, resilience, elasticity, and cost-effectiveness. Enable seamless self-service deployment and management of services
- Lead the evaluation and selection of software product standards, as well as the design of standard software configurations. Ensure those standards act to increase quality, flow, security, and colleague engagement. Assert guardrails and promote minimal viable compliance
- Consult with functional leads to ensure alignment with the enterprise architecture, advocating for best practices and advanced architectural strategies. You will be skilled at aligning people to the correct technical implementations
- Mentor and guide architecture and project teams through complex technical challenges, fostering an environment of innovation and continuous improvement
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, integrating new technologies into the company's architectural landscape where beneficial
- Drive architectural initiatives from conception to implementation, ensuring they meet budget, quality, and time objectives. Ensure we are architecting for business outcomes
- Kick start modernization initiatives, keeping the momentum on the modernization journeys - govern continuously
- Work with teams to plan realistic, incremental and Agile strategies and roadmaps to modernize legacy systems without disrupting business operations
- Facilitate the design of better architecture, focusing on the business outcomes and facilitate long-lasting, durable change in the value streams
- Collaborate with senior leadership to define the long-term technology roadmap.
- Keep stakeholders informed of the vision and the progress being made, focusing on the business value being delivered, promoting success stories and learnings
- Provide leadership to the Architecture Community of Practice, promoting continuous conversational governance with modernizing teams
- Adjust architecture strategies based on changing business needs. Embrace and coach emergent design and evolutionary change at team, system and enterprise level
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Work closely with business leaders, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment and understanding.
- Advocate for the adoption of data engineering best practices across the organization.
Governance and Risk Management:
- Establish and maintain governance frameworks to manage architectural risks and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Monitor and manage technical debt, balancing innovation with the sustainability of the IT ecosystem.
- Ensure governance of S/4 Hana, Cloud and data engineering practices to maintain robust and compliant systems.
Architecture Oversight for Projects and peer reviews:
- Review and approve the design and architecture of major IT projects, ensuring alignment with architectural principles and business goals.
- Establish Architecture Review Board and lead architectural reviews and provide input on critical technology decisions.
- Review projects involving S/4 Hana integration, Cloud, Data, API, and data platform engineering across Enterprise.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Foster a culture of innovation within the IT team, encouraging experimentation with new technologies and approaches.
- Continuously evaluate and improve the organization's architecture to meet evolving business needs.
- Promote continuous improvement in digital engineering maturity and data engineering practices.
What you'll need to be successful.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 15+ years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years in an architectural role.
- Proven experience in leading the design and implementation of large-scale IT systems and infrastructure.
- Experience with cloud computing (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern software development practices.
- Deep knowledge of implementable enterprise architecture frameworks
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, DevOps).
- Expertise in API, EAI, Event Driven integration Frameworks, Cloud, data, Network and Security architecture.
- Experience with S/4 Hana and familiarity with digital engineering maturity models.
- Proficiency in data engineering techniques and best practices.
- TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or similar.
