Role Summary
We’re looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer who combines deep Kubernetes expertise with a passion for cloud native systems and developer experience. This is a high-impact role where you’ll help design and evolve the core Lotlinx Developer Platform — a self-service ecosystem built for speed, consistency, and reliability.
If you love enabling engineers through automation, reusable patterns, and rock-solid platform foundations, this is your opportunity to shape how all of Lotlinx builds and ships software.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and develop our centralized platform API using Python/FastAPI to abstract complex infrastructure workflows, enabling developer self-service for automated deployments and on-demand resource provisioning.
- Drive adoption of cloud native tooling and best practices across the engineering organization — from service meshes to observability stacks.
- Participate in the design and evolution of our Kubernetes platform, managing and optimizing EKS clusters for resilience, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
- Implement and maintain GitLab CI/CD, ArgoCD, and Kustomize pipelines to ensure consistent, automated deployments.
- Define golden paths for common service types, enforcing consistency through opinionated, well-documented templates.
- Build reusable Crossplane compositions and templates to empower developers to provision infrastructure via self-service APIs.
- Strengthen the platform’s security posture with Vault, Kyverno, and cloud-native policy enforcement.
- Enhance reliability, traceability, and performance monitoring using the LGTM stack (Loki, Grafana, Tempo, Mimir).
- Leverage Istio to improve traffic management and observability across microservices.
- Participate in the on-call rotation, ensuring production systems meet strict SLA and uptime expectations.
- Contribute to ongoing modernization and maintenance of Helm-based deployments.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering.
- Expert-level knowledge of Kubernetes — from cluster scaling and networking to runtime debugging and controller patterns.
- Deep familiarity with the cloud native ecosystem, including tools like ArgoCD, Helm, Vault, Crossplane, Kyverno, and Istio.
- Hands-on experience building or contributing to developer platforms or internal PaaS systems.
- Strong programming experience with a scripting language, especially for automation and platform tooling.
- Solid foundation in infrastructure-as-code with Crossplane, Terraform, or Pulumi.
- Proven success operating production environments with robust SLAs, observability, and proactive reliability engineering.
- Expertise in AWS services including EKS for enterprise-grade container orchestration, IAM for robust identity governance, and Route53 for global traffic steering, underpinned by a deep mastery of EC2 optimization and secure VPC Networking architectures.
Nice to Have
- CKA Certification
- Experience architecting multi-cluster Kubernetes or hybrid cloud deployments.
- Prior work with service mesh and secure network automation.
- Familiarity with OpenTelemetry and distributed tracing infrastructure.
- Enthusiasm for advancing the platform engineering discipline through internal advocacy and documentation.
- A strong sense of ownership and passion for delivering great developer experiences.
The salary range for this position is $108,000 to $119,000 CAD, with an annual target bonus.
