We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Scientist with expertise in bioinformatics to join our team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in analyzing complex biological data, with a particular focus on Roche's proprietary next-generation sequencing technology, SBX, dataset. This role involves identifying major challenges in nanopore sequencing data and proposing innovative solutions. This position requires a strong foundation in computer science, bioinformatics, or genetics, coupled with proven proficiency in Python and a deep understanding of AI/ML techniques.
The Opportunity:
Analyze large-scale biological datasets, including the proprietary SBX data, to identify trends, anomalies, and underlying issues.
Develop and implement robust computational pipelines for data cleaning, integration, and analysis.
Apply advanced AI/ML algorithms to extract meaningful insights and predict potential problems within the data.
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to translate data-driven insights into actionable recommendations.
Design and execute experiments to validate hypotheses and evaluate the effectiveness of proposed solutions.
Communicate complex technical findings clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in bioinformatics, data science, and AI/ML.
Who you are:
Master in science with 5+ years of experience or Ph.D. with 3+ year of experience in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related discipline.
Demonstrated proficiency in Python for data analysis, statistical modeling, and algorithm development.
Strong problem-solving skills with a proven ability to identify and address complex data challenges.
Extensive experience with various AI/ML techniques, including but not limited to supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, and natural language processing.
Demonstrated understanding of advanced bioinformatics analysis, including various applications within the discipline.
Familiarity with modern bioinformatics tools, databases, and resources.
Familiarity with C++ and CUDA is a plus.
Prior experience working with large biological datasets is highly desirable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
