At Lyft, our purpose is to serve and connect. We aim to achieve this by cultivating a work environment where all team members belong and have the opportunity to thrive.

Data is at the heart of Lyft’s products and decision-making. You will leverage data and rigorous, analytical thinking to shape our products and make business decisions. This will involve performing rigorous product deep dives, identifying opportunities for product enhancements, and measuring the impact of new features.

At Lyft, we believe every ride should feel effortless and delightful  - from the moment a rider opens the app to the final drop-off. The Rider Core Experience team makes that possible. We own the entire rider journey: contextual home screen, search engine, offer selection, wait time, in-ride experience, and post-ride feedback.

As a Senior Data Analyst on this team, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how millions of riders experience Lyft every day. You’ll be a strategic partner across product, engineering, and design - scaling insights, driving data-informed decisions, and continuously improving the rider experience.

We’re looking for someone with strong business acumen and a sharp analytical mindset — someone who thrives in cross-functional environments and is energized by big, complex questions. In this role, you’ll help us tackle challenges like:

  • How can we use data to personalize and optimize the rider journey in real time?
  • How do we surface the most relevant ride options based on context and intent?
  • What moments in the journey create the most friction, and how can we design them away?
  • How do changes to pricing, wait times, or UI impact rider behavior at scale?
  • What metrics best capture experience quality — and how should we evolve them?
Responsibilities:
  • Leverage data and analytic frameworks to identify opportunities for improving rider experience
  • Recommend data-driven solutions to influence business decisions
  • Understand the complex business dynamics across the Rider core product areas
  • Partner with product managers, engineers and designers to translate data insights into decisions and action
  • Develop dashboards and analytical frameworks to monitor product and ML system performance
Experience:
  • 5-7+ years of experience in data analytics in a high-growth environment
  • Degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, economics, applied math, operations research or engineering
  • End-to-end experience with data, including querying, aggregation, analysis, and visualization
  • Ability to manage, influence, negotiate, and inspire others in a fast-moving environment
  • Proficient in SQL and quantitative analysis, you can deep dive into large amounts of data, draw meaningful insights, dissect business issues and draw actionable conclusions
  • Outcome-driven approach to developing recommendations and demonstrated ability to develop a story and execution plan to support goals and objectives
  • Exceptional communication (listening, written, and oral) skills with the ability to present findings and recommendations targeted to the audience in question.
  • A drive to understand the core issues along with the determination to uncover the solution
  • Thrives within ambiguity and context-switching
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners
Benefits:
  • Extended health and dental coverage options, along with life insurance and disability benefits
  • Mental health benefits
  • Family building benefits
  • Child care and pet benefits
  • Access to a Lyft funded Health Care Savings Account
  • RRSP plan to help save for your future
  • In addition to provincial observed holidays, salaried team members are covered under Lyft's flexible paid time off policy. The policy allows team members to take off as much time as they need (with manager approval). Hourly team members get 15 days paid time off, with an additional day for each year of service
  • Lyft is proud to support new parents with 18 weeks of paid time off, designed as a top-up plan to complement provincial programs. Biological, adoptive, and foster parents are all eligible.
  • Subsidized commuter benefits
