What you'll do

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Analyst to empower our stakeholders with the insights they need to make informed decisions. This role involves developing a comprehensive suite of self-serve tools and reports, enabling quick and effective answers to any business question. As a key advocate for automation, you will create data assets and processes that ensure timely access to accurate information.

Supporting the Sport Chek banner, the ideal candidate will excel in all facets of data analytics—from extraction and transformation to visualization. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving innovation, fostering growth, and helping us achieve our strategic objectives.

The primary responsibilities of this role include:

  • Provide the business with a full analytical service offering. This includes developing operational reporting, ad-hoc analysis, and data driven insights.

  • Develop new tools and capabilities to drive inventory optimization and profitability, leveraging statical models where possible.

  • Champion the Data Science resources of the organization to improve forecasting and predictive analysis.

  • Support the development of data pipelines and data marts to support the analytical process.

  • Be relied upon as an expert of the full merchandising process and associated data to help drive progress in the pursuit of our financial plans.  

  • Use modelling techniques to identify and quantify sales drivers, conduct what-if scenario analysis, and measure causal impacts.

    What you bring

    • Over 5 years of experience in an analytics-focused environment.

    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

    • Ability to quickly understand and address business problems, identifying patterns and insights within both structured and unstructured data.

    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerBI, including a strong understanding of DAX expressions.

    • Working knowledge of SQL and PySpark.

    • Experience in Azure Synapse Analytics developing and optimizing data queries, as well as constructing notebooks and ETL pipelines.

    • Familiarity with Alteryx, KNIME, or other low-code data transformation tools is considered an asset.
