Job Description:

We are committed to building our company’s reputation and maintaining our position as one of Quebec’s leading insurers. To support our team’s efforts, we are looking for a Senior Consultant, Strategic Initiatives, who is eager to take on new challenges. You will report to the Director, Strategic Initiatives, Sun Life Quebec.

The Senior Consultant, Strategic Initiatives position provides top-notch support for the creation and execution of the business strategy for Quebec.

What will you do?

  • Support to the Quebec Leadership Team: Work closely with Quebec executives to drive and align growth initiatives. Assist in the planning of cross-functional strategy meetings. Provide recommendations and facilitate business decision making process

  • Strategy: Support the development and implementation of the Quebec growth strategy. Help the Quebec business units solve complex issues and assist in the design, implementation, and execution of key activities and initiatives in Quebec. Generate new ideas

  • Data analysis: Collect and analyze key internal and external data or information to guide strategic decisions. Monitor Sun Life’s performance in Quebec and its competitive position in various markets. Track key industry trends affecting the Quebec market. Share information, draw conclusions, and make recommendation

  • Communication: Work with the Outreach and Communications team to build understanding and buy-in for the strategy and promote it to internal stakeholders. Help create content for presentations and communication tools as needed

  • Coordination and collaboration: Ensure clear communication between teams, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality results. Ensure that the Quebec strategy aligns with Canadian, global, and business unit strategies. Facilitate working sessions and discussions on a variety of topics. Promote information sharing and identify potential synergies and opportunities among internal teams

  • Tools and processes: Help develop and maintain tools and processes to keep the team organized and efficient. Create content for presentations to senior management and external stakeholders. Support the feedback process with key clients in Quebec

  • Miscellaneous projects: Participate in special projects as required (e.g., operational analysis, project management, research, special events, sustainability, DEI initiatives).

What do you need to succeed?

  • Bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada and worldwide

  • University degree and relevant experience in strategy, data analytics, or other fields related to the insurance industry

  • Show initiative and autonomy

  • Solid organizational and project management skills

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Team player with the ability to manage working relationships

  • Knowledge of insurance and / or wealth management markets and products

  • Ability to adapt, analyze, and problem solve

  • The successful candidate must be able to work in Sun Life’s Montreal office as required.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
