Overview of the Role

The Senior Buyer, Indirect Procurement will be responsible for managing the strategic sourcing process for the indirect spend category for Canada such as waste, lab supplies, MROs, office supplies, printing equipment, H&S material, garment cleaning, janitorial services, lubricants, courier services, etc. 

As key member of Corporate Procurement Team, this position requires strong strategic purchasing skills, as well as experience in cross-functional multi plant environment, negotiation, collaboration, analysis and communication. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, MRO category management and indirect services is a strong asset.

How you will make contributions that matter:

  • Strategic Procurement: Develop and implement procurement strategies for indirect goods and services, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.

  • Cost Management: Focus on reducing the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) by negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and eliminating rogue spending.

  • Supplier Management: Establish and maintain long-term partnerships with suppliers, ensuring they meet quality and performance standards; Track and Monitor Indirect Procurement compliance.

  • Internal Collaboration: Work closely with various departments and plants to understand their procurement needs and provide guidance throughout the procurement cycle.

  • Market Analysis: Conduct benchmarking and market assessments to support procurement strategies and identify cost-saving opportunities.

  • Innovation and Digitization: Promote the adoption of e-procurement solutions (Ariba) and other innovative tools to streamline procurement processes.

  • Continuous Improvement: Prepare periodic category performance reports for assigned categories; Research new products and/or /substitute products and/or suppliers.

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Administration or Supply Chain

  • Bilingual: French and English, business level

  • Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of Indirect procurement, negotiating and sourcing.

  • Procurement Expertise: In-depth knowledge of procurement processes, policies, and systems (SAP, Ariba);

  • Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation abilities to secure favorable terms and conditions with suppliers and experience in reviewing indirect contracts.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with internal stakeholders and suppliers; Ability to reinforce corporate decisions at plant level; Ability and willingness to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze market trends, supplier performance, and procurement data to make informed decisions.

As part of their duties, the incumbent will have to communicate and collaborate in English, both orally and in writing with colleagues or other stakeholders in Quebec as well as in the rest of Canada or in North America.

Salary range: $78,172 - $102,600

*Salary offers will vary commensurate with experience, education, skills, and training.
