We’re looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual with sound knowledge and experience in business financing for a senior advisor role in credit risk management for businesses in the commercial/industrial sector. If your expertise includes understanding the needs of growing businesses and medium-sized enterprises (real estate, banking, operations, etc.), expert knowledge of relevant credit risks, in-depth knowledge of the Ontario market and fluency in English and French, this opportunity is for you! You help identify, measure, monitor, manage and mitigate credit risk for the Business Services sector. You ensure that frameworks are applied and make sure they’re aligned with the risk appetite framework. You’re also responsible for supporting the activities of the executive division by analyzing potential risks and formulating recommendations to support decision-making. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Advise and support your clients and partners to help them position, plan, develop, execute and monitor strategic projects and initiatives under your responsibility (products, offers, governance documents, etc.)

  • Identify and analyze issues. Report major issues.

  • Diagnose issues and make recommendations to decision-making bodies.

  • Monitor market trends and changes in the external environment that could affect the credit portfolio.

  • Monitor changes and trends of credit risk exposure for the Business Services portfolio, in line with the appetite framework.

  • Help define and implement initiatives related to implementing our three lines of defence model or regulatory changes.

  • Ensure compliance with governance documents related to credit risk management and issue reports for various parties.

  • Establish operational governance documents to support your sector’s credit risk management activities.

  • Draft relevant reports about your sector’s risk level and the application of governance documents.

  • Represent your unit before various committees.

What you bring to the table

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, administration, statistics or a related field

  • A minimum of eight years of relevant experience, including at least four years in financing and business credit risk

  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

  • Experience in credit risk and regulatory environment governance (governance documents, risk models, regulations)

  • Experience with financing transactions (granting, review, etc.)

  • Experience in data and portfolio analysis

  • Expert proficiency in both English and French due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to credit risk and accounting standards for financial instruments

  • Knowledge of credit risk models and methods such as: risk parameters (PD, LGD and EAD), collateral management, limit and risk management
