Job Summary
Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (“HOOPP”) is one of the top performing and fastest growing pension funds in the world, with over $123 billion in net assets under management. The Investment Solutions Group (ISG) is responsible for supporting the investment management and operations at HOOPP and is currently looking for an experienced Senior Business Analyst. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Strategic Projects, the Senior Business Analyst will collaborate with business partners to identify challenges, recommend solutions, and support software development that automates workflows and delivers value across key areas at HOOPP:
Investment Management – FX, Securities Lending, Repos, Delta One, Public Equities, Fixed Income
Investment Operations – Collateral, Trading Operations, Trade Settlements
Audit and Risk
Partnership and support for other key portfolios in ISG
This role is critical to the success of our investment strategies and the development of proprietary trading applications that enhance the value of our core investments. The Senior Business Analyst will work closely with the Product Owner to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions on time, ensuring seamless workflows and exceptional business partner satisfaction.
What you will do:
Partner with our business teams in the back, mid, and front office to understand their needs, create robust solutions, and provide updates on progress.
Build custom software that enables the growth of our business in ways no other pension plan can compete.
Lead requirements gathering sessions with various stakeholder groups.
Translate ambiguous or high-level business needs into structured requirements.
Facilitate workshops to uncover pain points, business rules, and process inefficiencies.
Act as the bridge between business subject-matter experts and technical teams
Create designs and processes to ensure operations of a critical business.
Provide support for our business partners when anomalies occur, or questions need to be answered through investigation of technical problems.
Collaborate with a team that embodies the agile mindset, involving high amounts learning and flexibility to achieve high performing results.
Understand the transaction lifecycle within the book of record and perform precise data validation by cross-referencing the source system and data warehouse
Actively participate and contribute to Agile/ Scrum practices such as daily standups, backlog refinement, planning and sprint retrospectives.
Support the team in developing and realizing the Product vision (develop roadmaps, manage scope, minimum viable products etc.)
Leverage AI tools to automate routine tasks, improve data accuracy, and enable teams to focus on higher-value strategic work.
What you will bring:
5+ years progressive experience within Capital Markets and solid understanding of products and technologies used in capital markets.
Solid understanding of core IT concepts such as database structures, system functions, UI workflows, business rules, and integrated software systems.
Strong product ownership mindset, emphasizing lean delivery, Minimum Viable Products, and iterative releases to maximize value.
Possess a Quality Assurance mindset and capable of testing software to find issues and confirm functionality.
Highly organized, analytical, strategic, and structured with excellent communication (written & verbal) and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to interact with all levels of the organization confidently and effectively and to build strong working relationships in a team-oriented, collaborate environment while producing solutions.
Experience working with developers to produce solutions.
Experience integrating with vendor and external systems.
Experience with SimCorp Dimension (SCD), SAP HANA and Snowflake is an asset.
Experience incorporating AI into daily tasks and business processes is an asset.
Degree in Finance, Business, Engineering, Computer Science, related field and/or relevant experience
CFA, CSA, FRM or other financial designation is an asset.
