Job Description

Reporting directly to the CEO, and partaking in the daily CEO agenda, be ready for a career changing professional endeavour that will propel you to the cockpit of one of the fastest growing industrial and robotics start-ups. Part mentorship, part management consulting, and part advisory, the Senior Business Advisor role is designed to expose you to all facets of Vention over a 24-month period and re-inject back into the business in a leadership role thereafter. In this role you will work hand-in hands with Vention’s CEO on the following roles and responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the CEO on an array of business initiatives, spanning go-to-market, strategy, operations, finance, product development, organizational design, etc.
  • Work on a project basis to develop solutions to complex business problems, leveraging analytics, strategic thinking, and market research (See appendix A).
  • Partake in the weekly cadence of X-Sync meetings and support post-meeting action items, including handshake between functions.
  • Drive orchestration of company drumbeat (i.e., MBR & SLT) and support content preparation for the CEO.
  • Support creation of board of director, presentation, including deep-dives & working session.
  • Participate in formal and informal end-of-day brainstorm with the CEO, to reflect on emerging priorities, align on next step and adjust business direction as needed.

Definition of mutual success for the role: 

  • Provide the CEO with true operational leverage by taking the lead on a variety of initiatives.
  • Help CEO develop thesis and opinion prior to key decisions points.
  • Empower the Business Advisor to build a strong network of influence within the organization.
  • Develop and coach the Business Advisor to ensure successful transition back into the organization post mandate.

Qualifications

  • Distinctive work ethic, and deep passion for leaving no rocks unturned when seeking the best business solutions.
  • Best-in-class data analytics skill, with demonstrated ability to structure dataset, run complex analysis and summarize insights.
  • High intellectual horsepower, with ability to decompose problems, frame avenues to investigate, explore competing point of views, and advise the CEO on various path forward.
  • Strong emotional intelligence with ability to navigate organization across functions and seniority levels.
  • Strong communication skills, mastering synthesis and top-down communication.
  • Comfortable with driving several initiatives in parallel across a range of business functions: go-to-market, strategy, operations, finance, product development, HR, etc.
  • Bachelor’s in engineering or business and Master from a top institution, both achieved with distinctive performance.
  • 3+ years of management consulting or investment banking in top tier firm or equivalent.
  • Deep passion for industrial technology, robotics, and complex business problems.
  • Strong fit with Vention's values, including passion for execution, resourcefulness, and humility.
