POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Business Advisor, Artificial Intelligence provides subject-matter expertise on artificial intelligence, tailored to the realities of Canadian entrepreneurs.


In this new role, the advisor will assess entrepreneurs’ evolving needs in this rapidly changing area of expertise for BDC, help identify partnership opportunities, and contribute to shaping and delivering BDC’s approach to foster the adoption at scale of AI solutions by entrepreneurs.


Through thought leadership, content development and using various channels such as online seminars, cohort workshops, and direct- to-client advice, the advisor will maximize impact by providing clear calls to action and practical implementation support.


Working in an agile and matrixed environment, the advisor will collaborate closely with a cross-functional team including our Advisory Centers of Expertise, BDC Academy, Partnerships, Marketing and Communications to position BDC as a partner of choice for companies looking to undertake an AI journey.


Additionally, the advisor may support the integration of AI tools within Advisory Services’ delivery methodology. This work includes testing new initiatives, supporting implementation, and contributing to change management activities to enhance productivity and client experience.


CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on artificial intelligence and stay current with market trends to support the development and evolution of BDC solutions and tools.

  • Proactively source and build relationships with Canadian AI champions who could be of service to our clients and maintain an ever-growing repertoire of use-cases from which SMEs can benefit.

  • Contribute to BDC outreach activities by developing marketing and learning content and delivering it through national and regional events (webinar, online seminars, and conferences) adapted to the reality of entrepreneurs.

  • In collaboration with Business Development and the BDC Academy team, build, promote and facilitate cohort sessions for groups of entrepreneurs to demystify AI adoption and support use-case implementation.

  • Identify opportunities to integrate Artificial Intelligence content or develop add-on modules that could be sold in conjunction with current Advisory solutions.

  • Provide advice to clients as they seek to implement their first use cases either directly or by overseeing external consultants contracted for this purpose.

  • Manage program delivery by monitoring results against objectives, budget, schedule, and objectives, and perform quality assurance on projects and deliverables.

  • Work closely with business development and delivery practice colleagues to help transfer product and technical knowledge and expertise, deliver projects, and sell new mandates.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

 

Preferred Educational Background and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, software or industrial engineering, operations management, computer science, IT, or related fields.

  • Membership in a relevant professional association as well as additional training certificates in AI-related topics are an asset.

  • Minimum of 7-10 years in a consulting firm, solution provider or integrator, with direct client facing responsibilities

  • Demonstrated experience advising organizations on operational excellence and AI best practices, or leading the selection and implementation of AI solutions in an SME environment.

Skills, Knowledge, Competencies and Requirements

  • Ability to develop pragmatic solutions suited to SME environments and to provide strategic coaching, as required.

  • Proven ability to convey knowledge and know-how as a subject matter expert, to peers, colleagues, and clients.

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills, and ability to support outreach and business development in both official languages.

  • Strong client focus with a commitment to delivering value and sharing best practices.

  • Demonstrated project management, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.

  • Positive attitude, curiosity and willingness to work beyond one’s core expertise.

  • Results oriented, proactive and able to work with a sense of urgency.

  • travelability to travail occasionally across Canada
