About the Role
CapIntel is hiring a Senior Backend Developer to take ownership of the systems that power our core product. You’ll play a critical role in enhancing the performance, reliability, and scalability of our platform, while contributing to features that drive meaningful experiences for thousands of users.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, cross-functional environment, enjoys building APIs that solve complex problems, and brings a product-minded approach to backend engineering. While this is a backend-focused role, familiarity with frontend frameworks is expected, and you may occasionally support frontend integration within our MERN stack.
What You’ll Do
Lead the design and development of scalable backend services using Node.js, TypeScript/JavaScript, and NoSQL databases like MongoDB.
Architect and optimize RESTful API integrations that support enterprise-level scale, performance, and security.
Collaborate with frontend engineers to ensure seamless API consumption and user-facing feature delivery.
Own the deployment, monitoring, and reliability of backend services on AWS, with a focus on performance, observability, and cost-effectiveness.
Contribute to and uphold code quality standards through code reviews, documentation, and mentoring of intermediate developers.
Write robust unit and integration tests, ensuring backend stability across evolving product requirements.
Work cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and fellow developers to translate requirements into scalable backend solutions.
What You’ll Bring
5+ years of professional backend development experience, with advanced proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript.
Deep experience working with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or other production-grade databases.
A track record of building and maintaining secure, performant RESTful APIs, ideally in a product-focused or B2B SaaS environment.
Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, especially AWS, and experience managing deployments, environments, and monitoring.
Passion for clean code, testing, and automation, with hands-on experience writing comprehensive unit and integration tests.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across engineering, product, and design teams.
A product-first mindset—you think beyond code and care deeply about the end-user experience.
Bonus Experience
Familiarity with serverless architecture (e.g., AWS Lambda).
Experience optimizing CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.
Python scripting or experience with data processing pipelines.
Exposure to frontend frameworks like React.js and collaborating within a full-stack MERN environment.
