CapIntel is looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join our growing Data Team, where you’ll design and deliver the infrastructure that keeps our platform fast, reliable, and ready for what’s next. From robust ETL pipelines to scalable backend systems and API integrations, you’ll partner with cross-functional teams and lead the creation of solutions that power smarter financial systems.
What You’ll Do- Design, build, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines using JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, Temporal.io, and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
- Architect data pipelines and storage solutions for structured and unstructured financial data, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Lead the development of secure, enterprise-grade API integrations, partnering with third-party data providers and internal teams.
- Deploy, monitor, and optimize services on AWS, applying best practices for observability, cost efficiency, and fault tolerance.
- Drive technical excellence by writing clean, maintainable code supported by thorough unit and integration testing.
- Participate in and elevate code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical planning, setting a high bar for engineering quality.
- Mentor intermediate developers and contribute to the evolution of our backend development standards and processes.
- Partner closely with product, data, and design teams to translate business requirements into scalable backend solutions.
- Extensive experience developing data pipelines in any robust backend language, with strong system design fundamentals and the ability to learn or work with TypeScript.
- Extensive experience creating and maintaining ETL pipelines processing many gigabytes of data
- Expertise with MongoDB (or similar NoSQL databases), data modeling and query optimization.
- Strong background with cloud storage and monitoring services
- Comfort with CI/CD workflows and infrastructure as code.
- A track record of writing well-tested, reliable code and driving best practices.
- Solid collaboration and communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience with Python for backend scripting or data processing.
- Familiarity with AWS
- Knowledge of search indexing technologies such as Elasticsearch.
- Exposure to data warehousing, analytics pipelines, or financial data normalization.
- Familiarity with Temporal.io or similar orchestration platforms
- 30-Minute Video Call with a Talent Acquisition Partner: A conversation to get to know you better, discuss your experience and motivations.
- 30-Minute Video call with an Engineering Leader to explore your technical knowledge and cultural fit for the role.
- Take home ETL task + 60-Minute Live Review Session: A take home task to process a file using Python, JavaScript/TypeScript or C#, followed by a live review session with a Team Lead or Engineering Leader. We’ll be assessing your problem coding skills, problem-solving abilities, and your use of AI.
