POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Director, Business Insights and Analytics, the Specialist, Business Insights and Analytics plays a central role in supporting and advancing data-driven initiatives across all client-facing lines of business under the COO (Financing, Wholesale, GTC, and Advisory). The incumbent is responsible for delivering high-quality insights through advanced analytics, ensuring the integrity and usability of operational data, and contributing to the integration of COO datasets into enterprise-wide data assets in collaboration with the enterprise data hub.
This role requires strong technical expertise, business acumen, and the ability to communicate complex findings clearly. The Specialist must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, managing multiple priorities while delivering impactful results.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET
Lead the design and implementation of data frameworks and models to support operational reporting, dashboarding, and analytics.
Apply advanced analytics techniques (e.g., segmentation, forecasting, clustering, regression) to uncover insights that support strategic and operational decision-making.
Develop and optimize Power BI datasets and dashboards, including advanced DAX modeling, semantic layer design, and performance tuning.
Ensure the quality, consistency, and usability of datasets under the COO’s responsibility, and collaborate with the enterprise data hub to support their integration into enterprise datasets.
Act as a key contributor to data governance and stewardship, including metadata management, data quality monitoring, and lifecycle practices.
Represent COO data needs in enterprise-wide initiatives such as the BI Modernization Program and AI Centre of Excellence.
Collaborate with Enterprise Data Architects, Business Process teams, and IT Delivery to assess the impact of new data sources, system upgrades, and integration efforts on operational data.
Extract and analyze business intelligence from various databases to monitor key performance and risk indicators related to the COO portfolio.
Prepare and deliver clear, compelling PowerPoint presentations to communicate analytical findings and insights to stakeholders at various levels, including senior leadership.
Work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing competing priorities and delivering under pressure.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Mathematics, Business Analytics, Finance, or Financial Engineering.
10+ years of relevant experience, including 10+ years in data analytics, business intelligence, or artificial intelligence.
Proven ability to generate insights using advanced analytics techniques and translate them into business value.
Advanced proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, data modeling, and performance optimization.
Strong technical skills in SQL, Python, Excel, and Azure.
Experience applying data governance principles, including stewardship, metadata management, and data lifecycle practices.
Excellent written, visual, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create and present impactful PowerPoint presentations.
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Bilingualism in French and English is a strong asset.
