Role OverviewThe Regional Account Manager (AM) for Public Sector is the primary driver of growth within existing State and Local Government (SLED), Federal Agencies, and Higher Educational institutions. Your mission is to find, qualify, and close expansion pipeline, ensuring that every activity results in higher Annual Contract Value (ACV). You will act as the commercial lead for strategic account mastery, navigating the complexities of public sector procurement and building multi-threaded relationships to ensure long-term mission success and organizational growth.
Specific Responsibilities- Expansion & Mission Growth: Identify, present, negotiate, and close upsell and cross-sell deals to exceed quarterly expansion goals within the Public Sector vertical.
- Strategic Public Sector Planning: Create and manage comprehensive 12-month account plans and buyer maps that align Acquia’s technology with agency-specific mandates and digital transformation goals.
- Executive & Agency Relationship Management: Build and maintain strategic relationships with budget holders, program managers, and C-level decision-makers (CIOs/CTOs) within government and educational institutions.
- Public Sector RFP Leadership: Own and coordinate the response for both new and renewal-related RFPs, ensuring compliance with government procurement standards.
- Deal & Roadmap Orchestration: Lead commercial strategy and "Art of Possible" sessions, coordinating with Product and Solutions Engineers to align the Acquia roadmap with agency needs.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Renewal Managers (RM) on complex contract extensions and leverage usage data from Customer Success Managers (CSM) to justify expansion cases based on ROI and citizen engagement.
- Commercial Advocacy: Serve as the primary advocate for commercial issues related to Public Sector contracts, billing, and executive-level intervention during critical escalations.
- 2-5 years working in an account management or sales role providing technical solutions to large Public Sector enterprises (Federal, SLED, or Higher Ed).
- Proven track record of owning and exceeding a sales quota, specifically through navigating the unique procurement cycles of government agencies.
- Strategic Public Sector Expertise: Ability to move beyond tactical renewals to high-level strategic roadmap planning tailored to government mandates.
- Executive Presence: Strong ability to influence decision-making at the agency head or cabinet level; crisp, confident, and articulate.
- Data-Driven & Detail-Oriented: Proficiency in using Salesforce and Gainsight to track account health, update buyer maps, and manage weekly forecasts with meticulous attention to detail.
- Collaboration: Strong teamwork skills to navigate a RACI-driven environment, working alongside CSMs and RMs to ensure a unified front to the customer.
Education: Bachelor’s degree is required.

The annual base salary for this full-time position is $65,000 - $78,000. Final compensation will be commensurate with your experience and will be determined by a variety of factors, including city of residence, relevant skillset, and job-related knowledge. This role is also eligible for variable compensation.
