Radio Systems Intern
Location: Ottawa, Ontario
Duration: 12-16 months (for co-ops) | 8 months+ (for interns, with potential for extension)
About this opportunity:
As a Functional System Developer Intern, you will help design and systemize how Ericsson radio products behave by translating market and technical requirements into clear functional specifications. You will work with both HW and SW development teams to ensure the radio system works correctly across key areas.
What you will do:
Functional Systemization & Design
Support systemization activities by helping break down market and program requirements into clear HW/SW design inputs.
Learn how radio functions are architected and assist senior developers with requirement refinement.
Documentation Ownership (Entry Level)
Assist in creating or updating Requirements, interface descriptions, and parameter documentation.
Ensure documentation is accurate, consistent, and traceable under the guidance of senior team members.
The skills you bring:
Bachelor or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science
Basic understanding of radio systems, wireless communication concepts, or digital signal processing (coursework or internship experience is acceptable).
Familiarity with fundamental software/hardware architecture concepts.
Interest in learning about Radio Access Networks (RAN), including:
Exposure (through school, projects, or internships) to systems engineering concepts such as requirement analysis or functional documentation.
Nice to Have
Exposure to radio security concepts or resilience mechanisms.
Interest or familiarity with open interface standards such as:
O RAN (Open Radio Access Network)
Fronthaul (FH) specifications
Open Lower Layer Split (OLLS)
Awareness of cybersecurity standards
