About Xanadu:
Xanadu’s mission is to build quantum computers that are useful and available to people everywhere.
At Xanadu, we are learners, innovators, researchers, collaborators and problem solvers. We are creating something that has never been built before. What we are doing is extremely hard, the classic moon shot. Few people in their life will be able to be a part of something like this, where if we are successful, the technologies we develop will solve some of the world’s most challenging problems, and literally change the world. And that is something to be excited about!
Your role and responsibilities:
As a Quantum Machine Learning Researcher at Xanadu, you will be part of Xanadu's Algorithms group, working in collaboration with our team of scientists and software developers. Your goals are to contribute core ideas that push the boundaries of quantum machine learning research, and that enable the usefulness of quantum computers for learning tasks one day. You produce high-quality papers on relevant topics and keep closely involved with the scientific community to identify new developments.
Your mindset:
- You are driven by the goal of understanding how quantum computers can be used for machine learning, and how techniques from machine learning can empower quantum algorithms.
- You have an interest in the practical utility of quantum technologies.
- You enjoy working with fundamental theory, but routinely test your understanding using carefully designed experimental implementations.
- You are not afraid to think critically and challenge popular assumptions.
- You are open to working on problems outside of your area of expertise.
- You are comfortable conducting research in an interdisciplinary team environment, as well as independently when required.
- You are guided by a sense of urgency and excellence.
Qualifications and experience:
- PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Data Science, or related field.
- Track record of research accomplishments, demonstrated by your peer-reviewed publications and presentations.
- Deep understanding of machine learning, which includes knowledge of machine learning theory and practical experience in training models.
- Solid theoretical understanding of quantum computing and quantum theory, and some experience in working with quantum software.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively.
- Ability to manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables while working in a fast-paced environment.
