About CloudX
At CloudX we’re building a new supply-side advertising platform for mobile publishers. We’re convinced that an AI-native product will significantly advance the state of the art in mobile advertising; we recently raised a $30M Series A in order to bring this dream to life. We have a long history of innovation in this space — our founding team previously built MoPub (sold to Twitter for $350M) and MAX (backbone of AppLovin's $200B business). Our new platform combines real technical improvements like verifiably fair auctions with a truly AI-native product experience to give publishers unprecedented control over their ad monetization strategy.
Like the rest of our company, our Engineering team is distributed and remote — spanning UTC-8 to UTC+6. We have a strong ownership culture and are heavily collaborative, relying primarily on asynchronous, written, communication for coordination. We ship daily and believe that fast CI and good test coverage is the best way to remain productive as we scale. We’re small and high trust; we optimize for rapid iteration and experimentation. Everyone has access to the latest AI tools, but rather than generating vibe-slop we use them pragmatically to build better products. We are lucky to work closely with our talented Product and Business teams to make sure we’re building the right things. It’s a true early-stage startup with lots of important work to go around.
We care deeply about craftsmanship and quality. As our first dedicated Quality Engineer, you’ll own the end-to-end reliability of our platform, build the guardrails, tooling, and processes to catch bugs as early as possible
Your focus will be split across three main areas:
- The SDK & Ad Rendering: You’ll design and maintain test suites that validate how our SDK behaves across a fragmented world of devices and OS versions. You’ll build automated ways to verify that ads don’t just "load," but render perfectly, performantly, and without breaking the publisher’s app.
- Infrastructure & CI/CD: You’ll work alongside the backend team to toughen up our pipelines. Whether it’s improving our test coverage or building custom tooling to make our CI faster, your goal is to help us ship daily with zero anxiety.
- Defining the Standard: You’ll be the internal champion for testing best practices. You’ll help other engineers write better tests and ensure that "quality" is a shared mindset, not a separate department.
We’re a small, fast-moving team. We care more about your ability to solve problems than your years of experience in a specific framework.
- You’re a builder, not just a tester. You don't just write test plans; you write code. You’re comfortable diving into production environments, reading backend logic, and building automation frameworks from scratch.
- You have Startup Grit. You understand that in an early-stage company, we have to make trade-offs. You know exactly when a 5-minute manual check is enough and when we need a "bulletproof" automated suite to prevent a catastrophe.
- You write for humans and agents. Since we work asynchronously, your writing matters. You can explain a complex race condition in a way that’s easy to grasp, and you write bug reports that engineers actually look forward to reading.
- You are AI forward: you are actively experimenting with or using AI as part of your testing practice. You don’t send vibe-coded slop to your teammates to review, but you use AI appropriately to achieve great results.
- You take it personally. When a bug hits production, it bothers you. You’re proactive about identifying risks and edge cases that others might overlook in the rush to ship a feature.
- Systems Thinker. You can visualize how a change in a backend API might ripple out and break a specific ad format on an old Android device three layers deep.
- Mobile SDK Experience: If you’ve dealt with the pain of mobile fragmentation and SDK integration before, you’ll fit right in.
- AdTech Background: If phrases like "RTB," "Vast tags," or "Auction latency" mean something to you, you’ll have a massive head start.
- Performance Engineering: Experience with load testing or benchmarking high-throughput systems is a huge plus.
