Job description
We are looking for a Senior Cross-Functional QA Engineer (Big Data & Azure) to join our teams based in Montreal. The successful candidate will play a key role in defining, implementing, and continuously improving the quality strategy across several data teams in an agile SAFe environment.
Responsibilities
Define and implement a cross-functional quality strategy for Big Data pipelines and solutions (functional, data, and performance testing);
Harmonize testing practices across different teams (standards, models, tools, test reviews);
Design and implement tests on large volumes of data in an Azure environment (Data Factory, Databricks, Fabric, Spark, Data Lake, etc.);
Support teams (developers, data engineers, PO) in test automation and integration into CI/CD pipelines;
Monitor and improve quality indicators (test coverage, defects, pipeline stability, processing time, etc.);
Participate in agile ceremonies (PI Planning, reviews, retrospectives) in a SAFe framework, representing the voice of quality;
Contribute to the documentation of practices and test cases, and ensure knowledge sharing within teams;
Interact on a daily basis with contacts in Canada, the United States, and Europe, adapting communication to the multicultural context.
Qualifications
Profile
Highly rigorous, detail-oriented, and strong quality culture in a data environment;
Cross-functional leadership, ability to influence and unite without direct hierarchical ties;
Comfortable in an international context (Montreal, United States, Europe: France, Germany, etc.);
Excellent communication and outreach skills with technical and non-technical profiles;
Team spirit, autonomy, and proactivity in continuous improvement;
Excellent communication skills in French and English. English is required, as the position involves communicating with clients and colleagues located outside Quebec.
Technical skills
Significant QA experience in Big Data environments (data testing, pipeline validation, volume management);
Good command of the data-oriented Azure ecosystem (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL, etc.);
Practical experience with automated testing frameworks (API, data, integration) and integration into CI/CD pipelines;
Knowledge of performance and load testing concepts applied to data flows;
Familiarity with agile methodologies and the SAFe environment (PI Planning, ART, features, stories, etc.);
Asset: knowledge of distributed technologies such as Spark in a big data processing context.
Experience
Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality assurance/quality engineering, including some experience with data or Big Data projects;
Proven experience in a cloud environment, ideally Microsoft Azure;
Experience in an international or multi-team context is highly appreciated.
