About Us: At Kobalt.io, our mission is to solve cybersecurity for SMBs at scale. We believe small businesses are the engine behind innovation and growth. Understanding the challenges that our customers have enabled us to design and refine scalable cybersecurity offerings that support a secure path to growth. This is reflected in everything we do from the programs we build, to the partnerships we have developed with companies such as Vanta, Prescient and Sumo Logic.

Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Product Manager to lead our transformation from a highly effective services organization to a hybrid of services and companion products. In this role, you will lead by understanding how great services are delivered and translating that into outstanding products. As our Product Manager, you are a strategic thinker, a cross-functional leader, and deeply obsessed with business outcomes rather than just feature development.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic product direction. Act as the clear expert for the leadership team on what is being built, while articulating the product vision to development and deployment teams.
  • Communication at Scale: Work comfortably with team members at all levels of the organization. You can seamlessly pivot between expressing high-level strategy and discussing highly detailed specifications.
  • Client Engagement: Lead direct and frank engagements with clients in both formal and informal settings. You will listen, sensitively probe for understanding, and act as the product expert in the eyes of our clients.
  • Product & Business Impact: Define products that buyers want and users love, ensuring immediate and tangible results. Manage the product’s financial performance, including forecasting and resource allocation, to ensure products hit cost and revenue targets.
  • Development Partnership: Define what the development team needs to build, including the "why" and "when". Provide developers with the necessary context and act as the voice of the customer within the technical team.
  • Continuous Improvement: Evaluate and improve product processes, methodologies, and tools. Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and identify opportunities for improvement based on feedback.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure alignment and collaboration across the entire organization.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience managing products through multiple lifecycles
  • Experience successfully releasing an MVP product
  • Ability to get things done through influence, not authority
  • Clear ability to articulate a path forward when inputs may be missing or contradictory
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to find a clear path even when data quality is poor.
  • A track record of working closely with external clients, internal stakeholders and developers.
  • Deep understanding of product development methodologies, tools, and best practices
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

Nice to have:

  • Experience with cybersecurity, governance, risk and compliance, privacy, penetration testing, cloud security or other information security fields is a benefit
  • Experience with B2B or B2G markets
  • Product managing service delivery would be a great experience to have in this role

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary and equity options
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Flexible work arrangements
  • RRSP Matching
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Fun and inclusive company culture

How We Use AI in Our Hiring Process At Kobalt.io, we value transparency and want you to know exactly how we evaluate candidates.

  • AI Notetaking: We use an AI-powered meeting assistant in all interviews. This tool records, transcribes, and generates summaries of our conversation. This allows our interviewers to be fully present and engaged with you, rather than being distracted by taking manual notes.
  • Information Sharing: These summaries help us accurately share your qualifications and highlights with hiring managers and key stakeholders who may not be on the call.
  • Human-Led Decisions: While our AI tools may provide data points or candidate rankings, humans remain at the helm of our decision-making. We may use these insights as just one piece of information in our evaluation. Your potential is assessed by real people, and the final decision on who moves forward is always made by the hiring team.
