About This Role

                                                                                                         

The Product Manager is responsible for understanding the problems of the Customer and Business Unit (BU) and identifying digital products and solutions for these problems. Working closely with the Civil BU and within the overall strategy and direction set by the Business Units, the Product Manager defines the product strategy, the roadmap, and ensures that the product meets the user experience requirements. The Product Manager supports the BU in translating the recommended Product Strategy into the Go-To-Market Strategy. 

This role requires a deep understanding of business problems, business processes and technology, as well as excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. 

Responsibilities

Product Strategy 

  • Understand the problems of the CAE customer and the CAE Business Units (Civil Aviation, Defense & Security and Healthcare)  
  • Work with the Business Units to understand the BU business strategy and business value of solving the problems and to prioritize the problems 
  • In cooperation with the Business Units, lead and conduct discovery activities (e.g workshops, focus groups, surveys, observation) to enhance the knowledge of problems and identify possible solutions.  
  • Understand the capabilities of existing CAE products that may contribute to solving the identified problems 
  • Research and understand the distinctive competencies of digital products and solutions of CAE’s competitors  
  • Work closely with the Experience Design Team to define and understand the user and buyer personas and create the required buyer and user experience  
  • Work with BU Stakeholders to establish a digital product strategy, which aligns with the strategy of the BU and customers 
  • In cooperation with the BU’s, recommend the product positioning to the BU and support the BU in developing the Go-To-Market Strategy 
  • Be accountable for the life cycle management of the digital product or solution, ensure that product remains relevant in the market or for BU and recommend to BU stakeholders product improvements 

Product Development
 

  • Identify and prioritize digital solutions and products to solve the prioritized problems
  • Provide and prioritize use scenarios and user requirements to the Development Teams
  • Transform user requirements into epics and (high level) features and use those epics to own, maintain and communicate the roadmap of the product
  • Work with the Product Owner to explain the product strategy and roadmap to the Development Teams, to create and manage the Release Plan 
  • Guide the Product Owner to ensure that the items in the Release Plan are delivered efficiently and effectively in accordance with product strategy, set timelines, within budget and expected customer experience 
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape to identify new product opportunities and potential threats.
  • Anticipate, challenge, and interpret CAE Global Products Ecosystem and technology trends and innovations as they relate future products and roadmaps
  • Participate in product due diligence for new technology partners or purchases
  • Bring together cross-functional teams as required to influence business decisions and advance long-term strategic efforts

Product Performance

  • Work with the BU to ensure that the business objectives, key results and KPI’s are defined, agreed upon and measured 
  • Where required, work with BU and other teams to deliver documents and tools to support the BU to drive adoption and sales of the digital product
  • Work with BU and CAE Data Teams to collect data on product adoption and usage, to allow CAE to make informed product decisions and drive continuous improvement.
  • Introduce and monitor metrics within the digital product to track the technical performance of the product, measure the usage of specific features and gather in-product customer feedback
  • In collaboration with the BU and Product Owner, manage and lead Product Ceremonies (such as Sponsor Review Meetings, Roadmap review and planning meetings) as per the frequency agreed with BU and GTP stakeholders. 
  • Evaluate and (pro)actively communicate risks, opportunities and trade-offs to BU Stakeholders and Development Teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Management, Engineering, or a related field. 
  • Experience in digital product management, with a focus on software development. 
  • Strong understanding of product management and software development methodologies, such as Pragmatic Framework, Agile, Scrum, Kanban and Waterfall. 
  • Experience managing product management teams and leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels. 
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing priorities and deliverables. 
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed product decisions. 
  • Passion for innovation and a track record of driving successful product launches.
