As a Building Experience Designer, you are responsible for shaping the way users of all ages engage with Mattel Building Sets, during the building and play phases. This role ensures that the journey from opening a box to completing a model is smooth, intuitive, delightful, and enriching.
You will be part of the Product Design team that create, develop and execute innovative construction toys.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams (Design, Engineering, Marketing, Quality, and others) to ensure the play experience is align with the intention of the different product element while captivating kids and families around the globe.
What Your Impact Will Be:
- Collaborate with Product Designers, Engineers and Graphic Designers to visualize the best building process.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Project managers to ensure cohesive product experience and brand alignment.
- Develop clear, consistent, engaging and intuitive step-by-step building instructions.
- Conduct playtests and usability studies to observe how users build and interact with Mattel Building Sets products, iterate on design when needed.
- Create and present building journeys that support flow state, surprise and accomplished sense through clever part usage and narrative integration.
- Create digital renders using tools such as SolidWorks and Adobe Creative Suites.
- Stay up to date with competitor products.
- Ensure the building experience adheres to Mattel’s quality standards.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and creative workshops.
What We’re Looking For:
- DEC or bachelor’s in industrial design or equivalent experience;
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience;
- Passionate about design and interest in the construction toy industry;
- Have a strong interest in user-centered product design;
- Great project presentation skills;
- Initiative and teamwork skills;
- Creativity and resourcefulness in finding solutions;
- Have the will to improve, to learn and to evolve;
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in 3D-2D software, (SolidWorks and Adobe Suite);
- Knowledge of plastics - an asset;
- Interest & knowledge of pop culture, video games, figurine collection, cinema;
- Comfortable in French; English is an asset.
- Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.
