This role has a hybrid work schedule (2 days onsite) and we are considering candidates based in Portsmouth, NH, Boston, MA, Plano, TX, Indianapolis, IN and Columbus, OH.
Job introduction:
The EDATA (Enterprise Data & Analytics Technology) organization is actively searching for a highly productive Principal SAS Data Engineer of a distributed, dynamic agile team to serve as a technical expert in analysis, design, coding and testing of our SAS analytic solutions. Under general direction, acts as a technical expert who consults on highly complex projects. Responsible for the analysis, development and execution of complex data solutions, in order to manage the information lifecycle needs of an organization. Collects, integrates and analyzes organizational data with the purpose of drawing conclusions about that information. Develops, constructs, tests and maintains data architectures for data platforms, databases, analytical/reporting, or data science systems. Establishes and builds data systems including providing standards, policies, best practices, procedures, governance and quality assurance for data analytics deliverables. Recommends methods to improve data reliability, quality, and efficiency. Devises or modifies procedures to solve technical problems. Leads and directs the work of team members. May mentor junior team members.
About the job:

  • Enhance and strengthen the support model and triaging capabilities in collaboration with our offshore support partners.
  • Act as a thought leader by establishing standards, guardrails, and best practices for SAS analytics tooling, and drive governance and compliance.
  • Leverage observability, data, and platform costs to identify and recommend opportunities for improvement, addressing complex technology gaps within business processes.
  • Collaborate with the Data Office and stakeholders to analyze workloads and recommend strategies for improving efficiency, while actively driving the implementation of those recommendations.
  • Document existing processes, organizational structures, architectures, and external systems for clarity and knowledge sharing.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of solutions, ensuring alignment with business needs.
  • Support engineers during implementation, including cutover plans, post-implementation support, issue resolution, transition planning, and knowledge sharing.
  • Communicate effectively and gather feedback from stakeholders to ensure alignment and support.
  • Proactively identify potential impacts on business strategy, driving vision and cross-functional collaboration to achieve strategic objectives.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master`s degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent experience, technical degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8+ years of Data Engineering experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of IT concepts, strategies, and methodologies.
  • Possess extensive experience in building, designing, troubleshooting, and coding SAS processes/workloads, with deep user-level knowledge of SAS.
  • Familiarity with diverse and emerging technologies, as well as new architectural concepts and principles.
  • Knowledgeable in data engineering languages and tools; proficient in new and emerging technologies.
  • P roficient in data engineering languages and tools, including Python, SAS, R, SQL, and DB warehouse technologies; knowledgeable in new and emerging technologies.
  • Understanding of code management practices and monitoring tools, along with GitHub.
  • Strong understanding of layered solutions and designs; comprehensive understanding of shared data engineering concepts, product features, and security considerations.

  • Highly developed negotiation, consensus building & influencing skills, facilitation, and the adaptability to respond to change quickly.
