About the Role
Arctic Wolf’s Exposure Management platform, built on a core foundation of Cyber Asset Attack Surface Management (CAASM), helps organizations discover, contextualize, and secure every asset across their environment. Our teams operate as empowered, cross-functional product teams — engineers, product managers, and designers collaborating to solve customer problems, not just ship features. We embrace DevOps principles and believe the teams that build it, own it.
As a Principal Developer, you will help guide technical direction across the Exposure Management product area — contributing to architectural decisions, raising the bar on engineering practices, and mentoring engineers across multiple teams. You are a go-to expert who helps unblock complex problems. Your work has executive-level visibility and helps shape how we build and scale the platform in pursuit of Arctic Wolf’s mission to End Cyber Risk.

You Will
Help guide technical direction and contribute to platform architectural strategy across multiple teams within the Exposure Management product area
Participate in system design decisions with strong, well-reasoned technology recommendations
Review detailed designs and provide architectural feedback that accelerates delivery
Help drive alignment on cross-team technical decisions and promote consistency across platform services
Champion engineering principles — clean design, domain-driven design, separation of concerns, KISS — and hold the bar on code quality
Foster cross-functional collaboration within empowered product teams, working alongside product management and design to balance value, usability, and feasibility
Elevate engineers around you — through pairing, code review, design discussions, and knowledge sharing — so that teams deliver better solutions and individuals grow in their careers
Contribute to multi-year technology planning and roadmap discussions
Participate in the on-call rotation and serve as a technical escalation point during incidents – helping teams diagnose and resolve complex platform issues
Our Technology Stack: Rust, Go, Python, AWS (Lambda, DynamoDB, Aurora PostgreSQL, SQS, EventBridge), GCP (Spanner)
Required Qualifications
8+ years of experience as a software engineer, with significant experience developing and operating SaaS platforms
Have designed and operated multi-tenant, cloud-native SaaS platforms at scale
Deep expertise in distributed systems and multi-cloud environments (AWS and GCP)
Strong experience with two or more of: Rust, Go, Python
Grounded in engineering principles — clean design, domain-driven design, separation of concerns, KISS, YAGNI — and apply them pragmatically
Demonstrated track record of elevating engineering teams — whether through mentoring individuals, improving team practices, or raising the quality bar across multiple teams
Contribute strategic technical recommendations with 1-3 year impact horizons
Nice to Have
Experience in cybersecurity, exposure management, CAASM, or adjacent security domains
Experience with serverless and event-driven architectures at scale
Track record of introducing new software patterns or technologies that improved platform quality
Experience with cost optimization and scalability strategy (COGs)

The base salary range for this job family is 173,000 to 336,900 USD annually. This range reflects the base pay the company reasonably expects to offer for this position, aligned to the broader job family base pay structure. Actual base pay may vary based on skills, experience, and location, including job family level. In addition to base pay, Arctic Wolf offers variable incentive compensation, new hire equity grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
