The Principal Analyst collaborates with a multidisciplinary team of financial analysts, economists, engineers, geologists, data scientists, developers and others to produce industry research and insight for clients.
Performance Objectives
- Lead contributor to short-term oil and gas price commentary, translating Enverus' fundamental insights, data tools, and proprietary datasets into actionable intelligence for trading and risk/oil and gas research clients in the form of short-term commodity trade ideas.
- Collaborate with the product team to identify Prism datasets (rig count, completion crews, pad clearing, production supply, infrastructure) that can be collected, productized and provided to a trader client segment to inform near term decision making.
- Support the development and refinement of Enverus' oil and gas market outlook in collaboration with the macro team.
- Contribute to targeted research initiatives as directed by senior team members, with a focus on enhancing market commentary.
- Build and maintain advanced Excel models, financial analyses, and macro fundamental models to support research efforts.
- Participate in idea generation and help prioritize future research topics based on client impact, market relevance, and resource availability.
- Actively participate in client and prospect calls, taking notes and contributing insights to deepen understanding of client needs and build relationship management skills.
- Prepare materials (e.g., Prism workbooks) for client discussions and ensure timely follow-up on requests and commitments (within 24 hours).
- Support senior staff and sales teams in strengthening key client relationships and identifying revenue opportunities.
- Attend in-person client meetings and roadshows, transitioning from an observational role to active engagement to develop client-facing capabilities.
- Begin contributing to webinars and industry conferences, with opportunities to present and represent Enverus insights.
Competitive Candidate Profile
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Undergraduate degree in economics, finance, accounting or engineering
- Trading/hedging commodity experience, pricing options/swaps
- Skilled writer and communicator. Must be able to explain trade ideas and market dynamics and support it with fundamental evidence generated by proprietary Enverus data/research/products.
- Solicits input and suggests alternative approaches that meet the needs of the team, the situation and those involved. Escalates issues of uncertainty.
- Actively participates in meetings and constructively expresses own point of view or concerns, even when it may be unpopular or uncertain. Seeks guidance to define and prioritize tasks on importance and urgency.
- Professional designation (CFA, MBA).
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (Spotfire, Tableau, PowerBI).
- Experience with programming languages or databases (VBA, Python, SQL)
