Job Description
As part of the Takeda Canada's Patient Value and Access Team, the Manager, Pricing (12 month fixed term) will lead development of strategic pricing and payer agreements to optimize access of Takeda medicines to patients across Canada. Reporting to the Pricing Director located at head office in downtown Toronto, the Manager, Pricing and Reimbursement will be responsible for the following:
Accountabilities
Strategic Pricing:

  • Work collaboratively with the Pricing Director, Market Access, Business Units, and Finance to develop price strategies that are designed to maximize commercial success across Takeda's product portfolio.
  • Support operationalization and implementation on Takeda Canada pricing governance/COE model including local and Global price approvals, gross to net price forecast, financial accruals, and customer payment approvals.
  • Develop pricing and contracting strategies for Strategic Customers (including pCPA, Canadian Blood Services (CBS), and Hema Quebec), public and private payer sectors for the assigned current and future pipeline Takeda products with support from Director, Pricing.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and insights to contribute to the development of launch and net pricing and negotiation strategies for public and private payers with support from Director, Pricing.
  • Support PMPRB submissions and reporting requirements for assigned Takeda product portfolio. Ensure PMPRB compliance, proactively identify potential risks and lead risk mitigation strategies.
  • Secure pricing approvals with Takeda Global, EUCAN and Canadian LOC for assigned product portfolios according to applicable pricing guidance.

Contracting & Negotiation Strategy:
  • Support price modeling and analytics capability to explore innovative/value-based contracting strategies with public and private payers.
  • Work closely with Market Access Manager and Pricing Director to develop tender strategy, manage RFP submission, and contract awards for CBS and Hema-Quebec.
  • Collaborate with Pricing Director on the development of price negotiations with strategic customers (pCPA, CBS, and Hema Quebec)
  • Operationalize Takeda's product listing agreement and contract strategies with private and public payers, cancer agencies, strategic customers, and hospital and group purchasing organizations.
  • Support the development of innovative and value-based contacting (VBC) structures for product listing agreements with payers working in collaboration with Pricing Director and Senior Manager(s), Private Payers, and Market Access/External Relations.
  • Explore digital innovation and technology opportunities to improve processes and ways of working.

Reimbursement Strategy:
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive understanding of all stakeholder/customer needs, value drivers and systems/processes.
  • Provide strategic pricing analysis for new products and new launches (e.g. indications, line extensions, etc.) and solve an array of complex strategic and business challenges related to payer reimbursement with support from Director, Pricing.
  • Support Market Access colleagues in product submission development and product launch excellence strategies as assigned.

Experience
  • Minimum 2-3 years' job experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare insurance, payer, HTA, consulting, and pharmacy/pharmacy benefits management industries.
  • University degree in a health sciences, business, or related field of study.
  • Familiarity in areas of pharmaceutical pricing, private payer reimbursement, PMPRB/pricing submissions, business analytics, pricing and contracting strategy development is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills, scientific and analytical skills. Demonstrates competencies of customer focus, relationship management, collaboration, team work, and strategic and innovative thinking. negotiation capabilities are an asset.
  • Demonstrated business acumen, financial analysis, and strong project management capabilities.
  • Experience working in multiple therapeutic areas is an asset.
  • Relevant experience and understanding of Canadian Blood Services (CBS) and Hema Quebec contract management process is an asset.
  • Bilingualism an asset.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Willingness to travel to various meetings or customer meetings, including overnight trips in Canada, US, and Europe.

  • Skilled in customer orientation, collaboration, and teamwork, strategic innovative thinking and ability to manage complex situations
