YOUR MISSION

As a Payroll Technician/Specialist, you will be responsible for various essential tasks related to managing salaries and benefits for our company. Your main responsibilities will include:

Payroll and Benefits Management (70%)

  • Take charge of all activities related to payroll processing and benefits management
  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of the integrated human resources and payroll management system (Dayforce) by processing new hires, transfers, promotions, and terminations
  • Enter and validate payroll data, including expense accounts and timesheets, in accordance with applicable labor standards
  • Process payroll and deductions for all our employees in Canada and the United States
  • Act as an intermediary with our external payroll partners for our international employees
  • Manage administrative aspects of benefits, including enrollments and terminations, managing RRSP contributions, and verifying monthly invoices from providers
  • Monitor and maintain various leave records (vacation, sickness, etc.)
  • Issue and verify employment records and produce tax statements
  • Make remittances and payments to third parties
  • Prepare payroll-related communications
  • Serve as a reference for any questions regarding payroll and benefits
  • Collaborate with the Accounting team to record payroll in the books, participate in reconciliations, and respond to various inquiries

Support for the Talent and Culture Team (20%)

  • Manage absence records (parental leave, disability, etc.)
  • Produce employment confirmation letters
  • Produce and maintain various performance indicators
  • Participate in process optimization
  • Ensure, in collaboration with the HR department, compliance with laws governing payroll management and labor legislation

Expertise in Integrated Human Resources and Payroll Management System (10%)

  • Create and generate various reports using Dayforce
  • Optimize the use of Dayforce
  • Provide training and support to employees on the use of Dayforce
  • Collaborate with the provider (Dayforce) to resolve issues encountered with the system and implement best practices

The ideal candidate for this position will have

  • At least 5 years of experience in full-cycle payroll management
  • College diploma in administration or accounting
  • Accreditation from the Canadian Payroll Association is an asset
  • In-depth knowledge of current payroll laws and regulations in Canada and the United States
  • Experience with payroll software, with knowledge of Dayforce being a significant asset
  • Experience in an international multi-site environment or having been exposed to the different laws governing international payroll, an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and excellent Excel skills
  • Bilingualism in French and English, both oral and written
  • Attention to detail and adherence to deadlines
