Job Responsibilities:
QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY TO DO THE JOB:
- Completion of Post-Secondary Education in Engineering / Technologist program or skilled trade an asset.
Previous leadership experience required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of paint tooling systems and automotive manufacturing maintenance, including trays, bucks, jigs/fixtures, and E-Coat tooling
- Understanding of defect analysis, cleaning and blasting processes, and tooling repair management
- Experience with vendor management, cost control, and inventory systems
- Familiarity with APQP, Control Plan, PFMEA Development, TS-14001, and IATF-16949
- Project Management and Planning experience
- Ability to provide guidance, coaching and mentorship to a team
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills to deal with issues as they arise
- Must be quality minded, safety conscious and reliable
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
MAIN DUTIES:
- Provides leadership and technical support for paint tooling operations
- Leads team in problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives
- Responsible management of inventory, repairs, blasting processes, and throughput optimization
- Accountable for buck management, including application optimization, cleaning frequency, blasting, - burning, assembly, repairs, and inventory control
- Manages tooling cleaning and burning programs, vendor relationships, and repair tracking, with a focus on cost savings and insourcing opportunities
- Ensures tooling performance supports paint quality, yield targets, and defect reduction across all product lines. Oversees contractors and vendors performance and cost
- Assigns, audits, and schedules work for employees across multiple shifts to ensure business needs are met
- Supervises staff within the department, providing training, mentoring and performance management
- Schedules appropriate manpower and overtime when required
- Ensures safety standards are being met through safety talks, accident/incident reporting and daily team meetings
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses tooling or equipment issues, ensuring timely repair and issuing work orders
