What you’ll do in the role:

  • Lead data analysis across multiple and varied data sets in often novel ways to explore new decisions, support projects, and identify vulnerabilities. Metrics that go beyond compliance are needed to address new regulations, audit requirements, and the evolving operational resilience landscape will be key. Detailed analysis is required to develop change-the-bank initiatives requiring planning for changes to policy, procedures, resourcing, tooling, and adoption plans, eventually into BAU resilience programs to fully embed those changes. Data-driven decision-making is fundamental to success.

Assist in the development and synchronization of these projects that often span Morgan Stanley’s global programs, though at times must be tailored for regional requirements. The role requires high levels of socialization, explanation, and coordination. The effort to synchronize efforts both within the organization and in partnership with the rest of the Firm for adoption is complex work; achieving stakeholder buy-in and SME input is critical to the role’s success.

  • Work with various project managers to create a framework for data collection, KPI establishment, and efficient ways to report progress across stakeholders.

  • Evolve resilience metrics beyond just compliance statistics to measure resilience in more tangible and meaningful ways against the risk and threat landscape.

  • Develop and drive tooling requirements to help establish extraction across many enterprise systems to bring data to life in meaningful ways to help with vulnerability analysis, data quality assurance, and proactive data-driven actions.

  • Support the development and maintenance of the Business Service Resilience Framework, including policies, procedures, and program plans.

  • Lead Resilience Planning’s effort to utilize AI in reporting and data analysis.

  • Collaborate with departments across the Firm, such as Operational Risk, data and analytics teams, and Non-Financial Risk Technology.

  • Identify or support the development of solutions for strategic changes required for resilience and opportunities for efficiencies across related programs.

  • Timely and accurate reporting of resilience management information.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree.

  • 4+ years of data analyst experience, preferably in the financial industry

  • Strong technical acumen to drive tooling/dashboard and complex data integrations.

  • PC skills: Microsoft and other common data analytics tools with capability to code unique data reporting requirements in platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, Python, SQL

  • Creativity: see new ways to bring data together and visualize it for senior audiences and offer innovative ideas and help increase the efficiency of our business.

  • Excellent English fluency (verbal & written) is required.

  • Good communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) with the ability to articulate program enhancements to key stakeholders.

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and calm under pressure.

  • Willing to explore and utilize AI to enhance Firm Resilience.

  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to work successfully across multiple priorities and conflicting deadlines while producing quality results and deliverables.

  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to identify and assess risks and issues through critical thinking while developing possible solutions.
